A strange find

No problem with killing excess deer... Just wondering who carries a 7mmBR in the brush.... Kind of an odd choice...

I would guess as somebody has allready said that it came from a guy that is more into target shooting than hunting, and decided to try shooting groundhogs or coyotes with his target rifle.

That would be a plausible explanation if it wasn't the nastiest brush and briar pile I've ever seen. On posted property no less. It's just wierd. I totally understand the attraction to such esoteric rounds as is evidenced by this picture I snapped tonight. However, 7mm BR is so far outside the realm of normalcy. I'm flabbrergasted by the fact it was out there.

Thank you Double Naught... That makes sense... I can certainly see someone traipsing about during handgun season. But I'm still amazed to have found something so darn odd.

If the round is that old, maybe the brush patch you found it in was an open field back when it was dropped.

Did I just make your head explode?

In Ohio you can shoot outlaw quadrupeds with anything. Years back when I was a youngster in my twenties I was talking with a game warden who had stepped in a ground hog hole and broken his ankle. I was asking if I could use a new self loading rifle, in .223, on a ground hog and he told me I was welcome to use a bazooka on them for as long as he was in his cast. :D

But seriously in Ohio you can shoot Coyotes and Groundhogs pretty much year round (except certain holidays and deer season) with a rifle.
