A tale of 3 boxes... or, where on earth can I find these?

I don't know if I've ever seen this question posted... and my search-fu is pretty weak... so, here goes...

Storage boxes.

I have 3 kinds of storage boxes, all 3 came from Midway.

Left box is the 'pre-Frankford' Midway storage box, same size as a 100rd 9mm ammo box, or thereabouts. Decent box, but not very rigid, the lid will pop open if you aren't careful.

Right box is the currently offered MTM 'bullet' box. It to, is a decent box, but even less rigid than the Midway box... and you better tape that lid shut unless you like picking up bullets or whatever.

The Middle Box is a box that was sold by Midway, but only briefly. I ordered a box of 10 of them, found them to be VERY good for bullets and such, even loaded ammos. I went to buy more... and they were gone. Very rigid plastic, excellent latch that KEEPS the lid closed, even full of bullets.

Does anyone know a source for decent, rigid, midsized boxes for bullets and such? Everything I've found so far is not meant for heavy items, and/or does not have a latch up to the task. I've looked in all the places I know to look... but I can't be the only one with this question.

I have the same question, as I love the old Midway boxes, and they discontinued them. Dang it. I have some in all four sizes.

I go to Hobby Lobby for my bullet boxes. They have latching plastic boxes about that size which are even sturdier than the old Midway boxes. Only problem is if my wife tags along the bill triples and it becomes an all-day affair. 🤣
But I typically get a comfy quilt or something out of the deal so I don’t complain.

For the ones not in their original boxes, I’m using a few of the flatter ones from Target. I think they’re a guesstimated 8x16x2” and hold about 750 .358 SWC. (Maybe more.)

I also use the bin type holders for some other bullets, those sit on a shelf.

Stay safe.

I have some of those too, shoebox sized, for brass. They are nice boxes. Much more durable than the cardboard USPS fixed rate shipping boxes.

Might be regional. I scoured the junk yard that is my reloading and other things storage room and came up with one still wearing the barcode. A Google picture search turned it up:

But now you owe Lamont a Dr.Pepper. 🤣😁

The bottom one looks like a CD/DVD storage boxes I got from Staples decades ago. Made to be stacked. I think I have 10 of them in my reloading room with 9mm and 45 acp brass stored in them.
The Staples I work at sells those exact same boxes, made in the UK, with the exact same little latches to hold the lid on. We sell them in different sizes from kind of small to kind of large, and as a bonus they are all measured in Litre's (spelled like that as well, lol).

I probably got a few from there also. We don’t go to Staples very often. The nearest store is in Ocala, over an hour each way in good traffic. And the traffic in Ocala is never good these days. 😓

I’d imagine they’re available in a lot of places under the same brand name.

I have 4 of those... and you are right... I'll bet they came from Target. My .348 brass is in 3 of them, and I have a bag of Hornady 150grn FMJ's in the other. I like the size, and how flat they are, but for a box or two of bullets, don't make sense.

I love Staples... well, I should say 'I loved Staples.' They closed all 3 locations near me... I have no idear where another is.

Beckley, WV! ;)

Being serious, check the website. Staples.com, they should be listed on there. Although it may be hard to find, our website is kind of hit and miss, and I think I'm being very generous with that statement.

If you can't find them on the website, PM me with the measurements of the size box you want, and I'll get one (or a few) and send them to you.

Found them. They're called "Really Useful Box". Here's a link. Hope it's what you're looking for.

Thanks for that link! Actually, pulling it up, there is a physical Staples store not far from my LGS/range that I go to... it's just in a place I never really go past. It's about 3 blocks from my daughter's new apartment!

I have small boxes made by Sterlite that latch and have held up well. I think you can get them on Amazon.

Sterlite makes a lot of useful sized boxes, it's the material they use, and the latching design that I usually have problems with. That is not to say I've seen everything they make, of course. If Staples and Hobby Lobby don't pan out, I'll have to try to wade through the disorganized garage sale that is Amazon...

Double score!

Went to both Hobby Lobby, and Staples... both carry the Really Useful Boxes. HobLob didn't have small ones, but Staples had this organizer thing with 16 smaller boxes...

I won't be able to use the holder, but the small bins stack, and that's fine.

HobLob got me 4 of these...

I can lay bulk bagged or unbagged bullets in these...

The small bin's handles aren't the most robust thing ever, but I think they will do. The lid actually covers down over the bin itself, not unlike my blue containers, and so adds a bit of rigidity to it.

Mrs Thunkit works for Hobby Lobby. I appreciate your contributions to her paycheck.
