anyone give any thought to having it entered in the congressional record?

i believe it's possible but may require oleg to submit it to his local senator or representatives,

i'm not sure what it takes but i believe it is possible

just one of those thoughts that jars me awake in the middle of the night and makes me say, "hmmmm,,,"

    I wonder whats up?

Althought the responses are beyond great I don't think they are that deserving.

I also have my doubts as to the starter of the threads motives or reasons, last I knew there were like 7 pages with 0 replies from him, doesn't that seem a little odd? For allwe know he was gathering info to help build anti responses and strategies?

Any Congressman can read anything that he/she/it wants made into part of the permanent history of the US (everything that is said on the floor of the House or Senate (I believe) is printed in the Congressional Record). Thus you have the amusing sight of Congressmen giving impassioned speaches to an empty room at 2 in the morning. However because it was said on the floor it does get printed in the CR and becomes part of history. Usually it is used to get material that would look good on you reelection flyers on record.

    Still, not a bad idea.

the congress keeps a daily record,,,

of all the proceedings in both houses called "the congressional record"

which is published for the public to access

it might even be on the net

very interesting reading, if youre inclined

and if i'm not mistaken, citizens can have information entered in it by their local congressional representatives

i'm just recalling this from poly sci 101 which was eons ago but i do remember something about special interest info being added at the end of the day

and i think the castilla thread would be a good candidate

it needs further research i guess, lets wait and see if some of the other THR members can fill in some of the blanks for us

IAJack - You need to look at the thread a little closer. James responded a couple of times (starting on page 5). The members excellent responses came fast and furious, so his posts almost got lost in the flurry.

    oh, he's been back,,,(james)

i believe the opinions expressed in the thread by so many in so many eloquent ways is more than deserving of being entered as an example of how a diverse cross section of this country feels about RKBA

but i pity the poor person who has to stand there at 3A.M. and read the whole thing

    :what:

is it necessary that it be read on the floor?

it was just a wild thought that crossed my mind

thought i'd throw it out for discussion

    m

i'm going to project some small hard cylindrical objects really fast at some paper now...

Congressional Record has nothing to do with being a record. It is a statement of what congress wished.

I thinks it would better be placed on sites like the NRA, GOA, NSSF or RKBA. Then when an article or op-ed piece appears decrying low-browed, hairbrained, knuckledragging, uneducated, unenlightened, and dangerous pro-second amendments supporters we can vector the author over to the thread.

Congressional Record is a waste of paper and time.

Why don't our members or moderators save the better responses in some text file?

I agree with Waitone - the Congressional Record is a complete waste.

It is not a record of what has been said on the floor, as any member of congress (or their aide) can edit it at will. No record is kept of the editing, whether it was deletion of another members speech, or insertion of a speech never given, or the complete alteration of what was actually said.
