Okay, so today was the first real good weather here in quite a while. I've been looking forward to it all week and most of the winter. Over the last couple of months I acquired several new rifles, and this was my first chance to get them out to see how they will shoot. The three rifles are a used Winchester 670 bolt action in 30.06, a Winchester Garand, and a used Century FAL. I've been working all winter replacing the black furniture on the FAL with all wood that I've refinished to match.

So the FAL looks great, but the question was how does it shoot. Well, I've heard a lot of stories about Century products. I guess the previous owner worked out any problems this one may have had, because it was spot on. It grouped great. To say I'm happy with this FAL is an understatement.

So I moved to the Winchester Garand. This one looks like it is brand new. It is actually a good rebuild. I have several Garands, a couple of Springfields, an H&R, and now the Winchester. I received it just a couple of weeks ago. Shooting off hand at about 100 yards, my groups weren't real tight, but they were all on the paper, so it was me and not the Garand. This one is as good as my Springfield with a VAR barrel. So, #2 and I'm happier.

Third up, the Winchester 670. The only bolt action that I own. Got it for good price, with a scope. So I thought, what the heck. Other than needing to figure out the adjustments on the scope to really dial it in, it seems that it was only off by about an inch at 100 yards. It shoots better than I do.

So all in all, a great day at the range. Why can everything in life work like this? Everyone would be much happier.

Sorry for the long post, but a bad day at the range, is better than a good day at work, so what a day like this count for?:D

Have a great day.
