Yesterday non other than the infamous Foto Joe, and Mrs. Foto Joe came to my little hideout in the woods for a visit! Now of course, my dogs thought that they had come to visit them, and I couldn't get a word in edgewise;) But we burned some powder. Joe and his wife deposited some lead into the soon to be opened "45-70 Ranger Lead Mine, Inc" and a splendid time was had be all. Especially the dogs! When I go to the range, they never come with me at all.:scrutiny: When Joe and his wife walked to the range, those critters stayed there, and even the one that hides from gunfire, stayed put! They don't do that with me:cuss:

Got to see the famous "Defarbed Colt" and it looks much different in person. It really does look like it was pulled from the botton of a lake!:neener: Just messing with ya Joe....It was a good job and I was impressed. Joe shot the snot outta that one too. Then I handed him my .45-70 and a box of ammo and said "Go nuts and blast away!" I thought that his derby was going to spin! I kinda got the impression that he liked sending big lead down range with long cases.....I could be wrong, but the drool on his chin gave it away:p

Now of course not to be out done here, Mrs. Foto Joe took at turn with the .50 cal. Hawken! She's now an official "50 Cal Gal" and has complete bragging rights to that title!:D And she's quite handy with a .38 DA snub too! Don't get this gal mad at ya boys!

And as the sun was geting closer to the west, all good things had to come to an end. As I opened the gate and Foto Joe and Mrs. Foto Joe bid a fond goodbye to the dogs:cuss: and I watched them drive off down the hill. The dogs asked if they were comming back soon. Those pesky dogs:fire:

Joe and his wife are quite nice folks, all kidding aside, and we had a good time just blasting away and yacking about all kinds of stuff. And I look forward to their next visit. And when they return, I'll have the dogs in a boarding kennel so I can talk too!!;)

Thanks Joe and Teri, you guys are great! And that's no bull!:)

Wade; and Hanna, the happy dog; and Fred, the dumb but loveable dog....

We did have a lot of fun on New Years Eve hiding out in "The Woods of Texas" with Wade and his "family". I've been a fan of the 45-70 cartridge since 2002 when I got the chance to sit down at an 1862 Gatling Gun while visiting the Winter Range in the Phoenix area. Since the "G" gun just ain't never gonna fit into my budget, one of these days I'm just gonna have to settle for a '95 Marlin. On the other hand, can you imagine the reaction when we pulled into a campground and folded down the rear cargo door of the toy-hauler to reveal the original "Machine Gun?":what:

When we left Point Blank on Saturday morning we didn't see much of the countryside, the fog had laid in thick enough to taste and it pretty much stayed that way until we were within 30 miles of Wade's place. Luckily the sun did manage to come out and the only visibility problems we had were caused by a choking cloud of sulphur smoke.

I will ad, I think Wade embellishes exactly how much his dogs talk. The were actually very polite and seldom interupted with annoying questions.;)

Thanks Wade, it was a good day.
