I just took the quiz, (you might want to take the quiz for your own state) and then fired off the following:
Dear Charles,
After an internet search I took the Indiana State gun law quiz at about.com.
Some questions/answers are either incorrect or are misleading at best. In fact most of the questions are presented with anti-gun bias.
The first incorrect statement, "Are background checks required at gun shows?" When purchased from a licenced dealer, background checks absolutely are required just like they would be if you walked into their store.
Gun sales between persons who are not dealers are not regulated at the state or federal level, except that both parties must be residents of the state, and that no individual may knowingly sell to a person who could not purchase a gun legally. To prevent one's self from being charged with a crime, most people elect to require that the purchaser have a handgun licence. This insures that the purchaser is legally able to purchase a gun.
There is no so-called "gun show loophole"; the laws of the state apply everywhere in the state even at gun shows. The statement on about.com that says background checks are not required at gun shows is wrong and misleading, and biased and is based on anti-gun rhetoric.
Second, "May the police limit carrying concealed handguns?" The site says no. But in fact they may; by requiring that persons be licenced to carry a handgun there is a de facto limitation on the carrying of concealed handguns. This is more anti-gun rhetoric. The question should be, "May the local police/sheriff (who might not agree with the Constitutional right to keep and bear arms) determine who can and who cannot be licenced to carry a handgun at his/her own discretion?" In that case the answer would be "no". If the background check is clean the permit shall be issued.
Best regards,
Andy
