AC Broke, Vacation Start Delayed, now what?

Air conditioner at the house broke. Wife already headed up to the cabin. I need to meet the AC guy tomorrow morning before heading to the cabin myself.

What do you do?

I will sort and size/clean/process any time I have a few extra unspoken for minutes. Makes the refilling time more productive when I get around to it. If that cold bottle is your punishment for having a broken AC why fix it.

Just think of AC repair like reloading, Figure out the problem and fix it.

One of my AC units quit cooling abruptly last week, went outside and the unit wasn't running, the dual capacitor had gone out so neither the fan or compressor could start. A $14 part and everything is fine now. Could have called an AC repairman and waited but that would have likely cost at least $100 more.

Jmorris, 100$ would be cheap. I would say 180$ or so. Just glad I don't do residential.

$240 for my AC. Low on refridgerant. I have a handle on the controls side, not the charging side. Starting capacitor and all controls checked out fine.

I did get all the brass sorted. I have enough .357 and .38 Special brass to start thinking I need a revolver...... also, I wouldn't need to chase brass around at the range.

Yep, definitely. I love reloading for a .357. You can find loads for just about any pistol powder and make everything from powderpuff .38s to 38 +P to powderpuff 357, to fireball blasting .357 loads. (I know flash and recoil does not serve any useful purpose, but full-house 125gr loads with Win 296 are a blast...in more ways than one.)

The same goes for 45LC/.454.

Find a cool spot. Like go to my shop where I have a window unit.

But I normally fix my own units when they break. I have the cfc training, tools and ref on hand.

AC is fixed at the house and made it to the cabin. Brought along my Lee Classic Turret and enough gear to reload rifle.

Hey Honey, does this pile of extra brass make my gun safe look a little bare?

Through some fortuitous circumstances, I acquired several hundred pieces of new 10mm brass, and no unloading tool. A couple years later, the new unloader required a die set to restore balance in the man cave.

Good to see your AC is functional again. Going to need it next week to keep those reloading tools from rusting.

I did find 3 pieces of 10mm in my brass sort. Between that and a family tent camping trip to bear country this August gets me wondering.

"How many prices of empty brass justifies a new die set and an unloader?" I would think more than 3.

In my case, it was 130 cases of 9mm Parabellum.

It seems brass generates a certain "gravity" that accumulates more of its own as in the nine months since I picked those 130 cases off an informal range, I now have accumulated a total of 1,094.

Same thing bit me years ago. I found several boxes of once fired .357 brass. Kept looking at it for a month or so before I went out and bought a brand new 686 so I'd have something to shoot it in.

So much for "Free Brass"
