accurate innovations stocks

Does anyone have experience with accurate innovations? Or has anyone purchased a custom stock from them? I've called 3 different stock companies about a month back and found one that had decent prices and that I heard reviews about. They said they'll email me some pictures and price's of some custom m70 featherweight stocks the have made, but after a month and no email from them, I figure they forgot about me lol. Anyway I found this company and they seem like they make a very good, drop in custom stock and are about $400 cheaper than the other company I was contemplating using. I'm either going to buy a m70 featherweight in 25-06 and have this company build the custom stock OR go the easy route and buy a sako 85 classic in 25-06. The sako is $1999 + tax and if I go the semi custom route the factory m70 cost $849 + tax and the stock from accurate innovations about $1100 so theres only a $50 difference whichever way I go. Any info or opinions on the company or even what you would do, go semi-custom m70 or go for the sako, is much appreciated (and needed lol). I realize there are other options but i already know I want either the sako 85 classic or the m70 fw with accurate innovations stock and I only want it chambered in 25-06 so please just stick with opinions on the two I'm comparing. Love mine. This is my M-99 in .243 - it's an improved M70 action. I'm a lefty, and couldn't find anything in Stainless Steel, let alone with a .243 barrel with a twist for heavy rounds, for deer. It's my favorite gun and i highly recommend it. This gun is sub 1/4" @ 100 with hand loads. Factory ammo it's about 1/2-3/4"

Only thing I'd do different is get their fish-scale checkering.

Desidog, did you have them build the complete rifle for you? What did it run if you don't mind me asking?

I ordered a custom barreled action from Montana Rifle Co., since my criteria were not being offered by any company. Since then, options for left handed rifles have improved in the last half dozen years. But you still can't find anything like mine.

Generally speaking, most end users can find a ready-made gun to suit their needs; so it doesn't surprise me that not a whole lot of THRer's don't have experience with this. And, as you can imagine, it is not the most economical way to go about shooting.

I forget the prices exactly, (and unfortunately MRC's pricing has gone up since then) but I do recall that the whole investment was around $2k all told. Today's replacement cost would be significantly higher.

I had the barreled action sent to my FFL, and AI sent me the stock to my door. Their chassis system is a lot easier to install than doing the glass bedding process....which i remember thinking about while glass-bedding my CZ model 3 (also made by Montana Rifle Co).

IIRC, you can send them your barreled action for custom fitting; but i just gave them the action type and barrel profile, along with my requested length of pull, ( i have long arms), and requested species and grade of wood and finish. (I forget, think i went with AA claro walnut...it's beautiful, lots of burls)...and i expected to do a little bit of fitting; but it dropped right in.

As I alluded to before, it's not the most economical thing to do - in comparison, my CZ i mentioned: I didnt like the recoil-feel on the factory stock, (300WSM in a light gun) so i ordered a Winchester Featherweight stock from CDNN for 89 bucks...they bought the New Haven factory's spare parts i think...and a Brownell's acraglass kit; and with a couple hours fun work i had a similar barreled action stocked up for about 125 all told, instead of 500+...but, FWIW, the M99 in the AI chassis stock looks a class above, and, more importantly, shoots a class above the Model 3 in the glassed stock...and i think it's an apples to apples comparison with both barreled actions coming out of the same shop.

I'd get the Sako 85 Classic. I have two. It doesn't get any better IMO and I've owned customs.

Hardluk1, I have been considering a Montana rifle but from what I've seen they're a little out of my price range. I basically want a very nice looking rifle that shoots just as well for $2,000 or less that'll last me the rest of my days and be handed down to my son eventually. For a factory rifle the sako is about as good as it gets but a custom/semi-custom is appealing too.
