Adding another to the collection

Picked up one of my all time favorites, EK Knives. I've bought a few this this way and finished them off.

Here's the latest, just the blade, I'm hoping that Ka-Bar might be able to help out with a couple parts.

This is one of the last blanks that I bought, sent it to EK pre Ka-Bar.

Had them install the guard, got a factory box and paperwork for it. Had a friend wrap it with 550 cord. The final product came out looking good.

Bannockburn,
That is a beautiful knife! Being that your brother gave it to you, I would never sell it! Pass it along to your son or daughter if you have kids. Maybe your niece's or nephew's and tell them to always keep it in the family.

The last one I just got looks better in your hand then in pictures! I sent an email to Ka-Bar to see if they can help me out. I hope so, that way it comes from the factory. If I could get a box and paperwork, that would be even better!

I figured that I would post a couple here on my thread. The first is an original Camillus Becker knife.

I had to rescue it, who in their right mind would do this to a knife?! The first knife on the 1st page is the same knife. So, you can see how much the knife was messed up! Guess I'll strip the factory finish off the blade and change the scales to match the BK-9 on the first page.

Also picked up a schrade Frontier fixed blade knife. It reminded me of my Browning FDX knife, price was good, so I bought it.

Schrade on top, Browning bottom, two very nice knives!

Then ESEE had to go and release a survival kit, if you need something small with a lot of good stuff in it, pick one up! Here it is.

The knife is in good condition but the sheath is dire need of a trashcan!

This knife is a beast! Definitely going to need some work on it and I'll have to find a sheath for it. Not sure what I'm going to do for that, prefer leather but wouldn't mind a kydex one.

Anyone got any ideas?

John,
Yes, it is. The good thing is that I have big hands so it doesn't bother me.

If I had smaller hands, I would have the scales popped off and profiled for a better fit.

HSO, yeah, the Intrepid is what I thought it was until I took a better look at it.

All of them have great lines, guess I'll be looking at the other two to add.

Gents, I have finally achieved one of those knives that I've been trying to buy for years. The knife is marked with the Pacific Cutlery Inc and Balisong logos, before combining the two into Benchmade.

Awesome knife known as the Bushmaster. It's getting me one more knife closer to owning all the PCC knives that I like.

Hopefully you guys like this one as much as I do!

Decided to go old school again, saw this old Valor survival knife and had to have it.

It's in fair condition, gonna need to put a kit together for the hollow handle. It also needs a pass over the Ken Onion Work Sharp to get a good edge on it.

Ok, been working my butt off lately and haven't had time to do much of anything.

After talking to HSO awhile back, he pointed out this knife to me. Throw back to different times and when only a few places and people made survival types of knives. This one is a Garcia Jacques combat/survival knife. s-l400 (19).jpg

I have one of the earlier versions of that knife.

From the book "The Practical Book of Knives" by Ken Warner, came this chapter which mentioned the knife:

"The Garcia Survival knife, has (some may still be for sale) a 7" blade of spear-point design with saw teeth on the back. These are genuine kerf-cutting saw teeth, not mere aluminum-ripping serrations. It is possible, though very strenuous, to saw off a 2x4 with this knife. It was designed to be made by Hackman of Finland in stainless steel and the first batch were. Subsequently, the design was frabricated in Brazil. The first thousands were awfully good knives; I have no experience with the second batch, but they were much more lightly constructed, which still leaves them heavy. (The Garcia knife was very heavy and intended to be so. I don't believe a stronger blade of 1/4" stock was ever produced.)"

Almost forgot this guy, had one in S30V but sold it. Liked the color combo so bought one with the standard blade to replace.
