Without looking it up, I'm thinking that the Olympic Pistol exemption to the Safe Gun Roster also exempts it from the assault weapon provisions of Penal Code

EDIT: I looked it up
Penal Code sections 32105 and 30515, subdivision (c)(2)
The Benelli MP95e is specifically named as exempt...the list is four pages long

On the various Mauser 96 that I've seen/handled, the magazine wasn't detachable...they were clip loaded
Good point on the Benelli. The Olympic exemption makes it legal. So long as the clip doesn't feed the rounds, a fixed mag Mauser would also be legal, but a detachable mag weapon would not be.

Why go to all of that? That is a lot more than CA rules require. )

Yes, it is overkill. But, it is cheap overkill. Guns and ammo are out of sight, locked, separately, in metal containers which with a good lock, will take some doing to open. Probably in the bottom of the trunk under a load of luggage or gear.

Don't forget that while we are required to know
all the laws, LE and members of the court, i.e. Law Professionals, are not held to knowing ANY of the laws
they are tasked to enforce

Also, precautions like this FORCE the authorities to step way over the legal line.
This gives your attorney a much better position in court, if your rights have been
violated, to this degree.
