Be honest.I know very little, but what I do know cause me to jump on this. Out of the blue I ran across a guy privately selling a Bulgarian Ak. Right of receiver says "ISD Bulagaria LTD. Made in Bulgaria". It has these markings in front of the mag well.

The front muzzle brake flash suppressor does have some wobble to it, appears to be pinned in through the front sight and is kinda curved...the top is at 3 o clock and the bottom is at 730ish. Maybe this is normal. Like I said I've never had an AK. Bolt feels very tight and gun appears to be used very very little. If the furniture appears black its actually plum.

Verdict? and how do I really TRULY inspect this AK? Bestoweth the knowledge.

Looks like a fine rifle there. The slant muzzle device you have on there looks correct. The angle of it is normal. Get it out and do a little shooting before Monday comes along and ends your weekend.

AK muzzle brakes normally have a bit of play in them. It won't hurt. If you don't like it, you can stick some teflon on the threads and it will hold tight. That pin is springloaded, so just depress it with a punch and you can unscrew it. It uses left-hand screws, most likely, so keep this in mind when unscrewing and tefloning it.

Plum? Heheheheheh. I know you're going to play dress up with it anyways though :).

Should do fine, but find some regular magazines for it.

Looks good! Welcome to the club.

Take it out and run a few mags through it and you'll find out how well you did.

Do yourself a favor and get some Bulgarian Circle 10 mags, or some metal surplus mags (the metal ones are all pretty much the same except for Yugos with a bolt hold open follower). Stay away from made in USA mags.

The brake is a slant compensator. Probably doesn't do much for a semi-auto other than give that unique AKM look. On a full auto it is supposed to counter act the muzzle's tendency to pull up and right.

It's uncouth to say how much I got it for, but in my previous thread my budget was 650 and it was WELL below that. WELL below. Everything is very tight. Bolt is shiny and smooth. sights are straight. I'm pretty pleased. Bore is immaculate. Going to shoot it tomorrow. It function tests just fine so I don't see how it won't shoot. It is an AK after all, I don't think there's concealing much if somethings wrong with it.

Does anyone know if I can put a bayonet on this, how and where can I buy either a real cool eastern bloc type bayo or one of the kits with the OD sling Century packs with the WASRs?

The bayo lug looks funny. Can you get some shots of that? There are AK bayonets everywhere - gunbroker, ebay, surplus outfits.

I can. I think it may be an assembled AK. Everything seems to be very tight and functional. stick around ill take some pics.

If you got it for under 5 bills you did very well Bulgy's are fine AK's all the way around. I like the plum personally, but that Tapco mag looks out of place and looks like bubba let the kids color it with a crayon.

that what i was thinking. i dont think they come uglified like that. this is the first time ive ever inspected a tapco mag in real life though and they seem fairly sturdy high quality. but im definitely getting steel mags primarily. definitely ordering new eastern block surplus mags. pics of bayo lug coming

It sounds like you got a good deal and it looks like it’s in good condition! Now go get some ammo and shoot the snot out of it. Oh, and don’t forget to let us know how it shoots.

Of course it does. It's a standard Type 3 AK-47 bayonet lug.

You are the proud owner of a Bulgarian WASR.
The SSR-85Cs are made from recycled Type 3 AK-47s formerly belonging to the Bulgarian military. You done good, as I've seen some very very sad specimens come in.

Please stop drinking the Kool-Aid.

I've seen (and previously linked) to one of these that was so badly done, it made a WASR look like a Vepr. Not everything Bulgarian = "teh bestest monet kin by"

I said they are fine AK's all the way around just cause you found one bad lemon doesn't mean they are all bad. Nowhere did I ever say Bulgarian is the best money can buy.

I will take a Bulgarian made/parts gun anyday over a romanian. I had a WASR and a CUR-2 and they both sucked. The CUR-2 was actually supposed to be one of the better made Romanian guns (first imported 5.45x39 AK to come into country).

Be honest.I know very little

The auto analogies are getting tiresome...

Ok, no more auto analogy. You just married an middle age gypsy fortune teller with several transplanted organs from older dead organ donor gypsies.
Shes got a glass eye and few steel pins in her right hip but she should reliably be able to beat a tamborine and scare the coyotes away with her gypsy scream. Congrats you did better than a Romanian gypsy bride with far more congential inbreeding defects and possibly more veneral diseases.
