Aftermarket Glock magazines

I have about 20 MagPul Glock 19 and 26 magazines. I've used them for several classes and all my range use for the last 4 years with no malfunctions. The only issue I've had is that the 26 magazines tend not to drop free.

For carry I use only OEM magazines

Now I understand at times when there is panic shortage people grab what they can find but, am I the odd man out here that my Glock mags just do not stop working after time and hard use??

The only magazine of any kind that I've ever seen "wear out" was a USGI 1911 magazine that came with a used RIA 1911 I bought at a gun show. I have no idea how old the magazine was, I assume it was made before 1990 and it failed in 2007.

Factory or Magpul worked great for me and my 2 sons(total of 7 Glocks)..2 ProMag-piles of___..threw them away. Springs kept getting stuck down and no amount of takeapart and futzing would fix them..
 
Yeah, I just threw ProMag in there for gets and shiggles.

I have a friend who bought since ETS mags for his Sig p320. He hated them, and actually may have thrown them away. When loaded, the middle of the mag sort of swelled, and made insertion very difficult. Plus they didn't drop free when empty. I was surprised to hear this consideringall the good stuff I've heard about ETS.

Does anybody have any ETS AR mags?
 
I heard there were some issues with both Magpul and ETS mags early on. Both companies were responsive and product improved their mags.
This 20rd ETS has worked great. Nice size, too. IMG_20190614_234810.jpg

Had a very good range experience with those RWB mags indicated above. They loaded properly, functioned flawlessly and overall I was very happy with them. They even kept up feeding a fully automatic G18 in 40 S&W. For $18 a piece you can’t go wrong.
 
The only thing I'll do with any of my twenty or so GLOCK mags is recharge the ones in regular rotation with Wolff extra-power springs every few years. It may be overkill, but they work and work and work. I do mark every mag differently so I can ID any that may ever have an issue and rotate that one out.

I soured on P-mags when we had a few of their AR mags split at the seam in our M-4's. I know they've updated and brought out a lot of new stuff that folks seem to like, but for a GLOCK (And the AR) I just didn't see another reason to swap out from something that works as-is.

I did buy a couple of 33-round aftermarket GLOCK mags for the PC carbine, one has worked well and the other not so much. The two factory 33-rounders I also bought have been 100% so far.

If you want to experiment and then find stuff that works well for you, go ahead and give it a whorl. No original manufacturer has all the answers and there is some stuff out there that can be a great improvement. :thumbup:

I've been using the same lot of around 20 17 round KCI mags as practice mags, every week, for a little over 10 years now, and would trust them enough to use them for carry. They work fine, and are half the cost of factory mags.

I did have trouble with their 33 round mags though and dont recommend them. I've also had troubles with the factory 33 rounders, and haven't been happy with them either.

I have a number of Magpul mags as well, and they seem to work as well as the KCI's. Their 27 round mags work flawlessly too, as do the 21 and 17 round mags.

Same here would add I have had one G 27 mag split is was a factory mag.
 
I've had problems with the KCI mags. I wasn't able to load them to capacity at first, and just loading and unloading mine, they don't feel like the real Glock mags. I have had double feeds with the KCI 33rd magazine.

It took a while for them to break in. I'm able to load them to capacity now and I haven't had a problem with them in a long while but they're range-use only.

The Shield mags have made my G48 my favorite carry gun.
 
I have about half a dozen KCI G17 mags and the same amount of KCI G19 and haven't had any problems out of them and they have been shot extensively over the last few years by myself and two others in my three Glocks and G17 and G19 style Poly 80's. I have two of the KCI 33 rounders that I use in my Micro Roni and it has been at least 98% reliable for the last two years.

I got a Korean 50 round drum magazine. No last round holdover, but thats fine.

So far it's fed 150 rounds without a failure. If it makes it to a thousand I'm applying more graphite and doing another 100 then using it for home defense. Im satisfied with it so far for sure.
 
So I ended up get 7 KCI gen 2 Glock 17 magazines, 3 Jagemann Jag 17 G17 mags, and one Magpul G17 mag. So far I like the KCI mags the best, they are so close to the oem mags, that they're hard to tell apart.

I got the range finally with the KCI G17 and the Jage mags. Both performed flawlessly. Of course I coudn't do speed reloads or drop the mags on the ground, so take it for you will .

Overall I'm happy
 
Us Glock owners are lucky that there is at least 1 good aftermarket magazine choice (IMHO, Magpul) for the 17, 19, and 26.

I was offered a free ProMag for my Sig P6 (W.German police version of the original P225). This magazine actually worked fine when I tried it, but it wouldn’t drop free, but some magazines are designed that way.. The OEM’s all drop free. I declined the offer, and was able to scrounge 4 more OEM mags at a fair price, which is becoming really hard to do, I now have 7 OEM magazines for this gun

Friends don’t give friends ProMag magazines. A ProMag magazine is what you give someone that you want to de-friend. ;):rofl:
 
Used the Magpul ones quite a bit and they have always worked fine.

Haven't used any of the others.

Beat me to it. I was going to say the same thing.

I don't have a dog in this fight since the only Glock I currently own is the G44 and I have yet to see any aftermarket magazines for it yet. Once I get a G19, I might try magazines from Magpul, KCI or ETS. I played the aftermarket magazine games with my 1911's and pretty much just stick with OEM, Colt or Mec-Gar magazines.
 
I have had excellent results from Kahn, KCI and ETS. I bought several PW 33 rd mags many years ago. Some worked well, but others did not. I would not hesitate to try Magpul based on the good results I have had with their AR mags. And yes, Glock OEM mags are excellent.
