Aftermarket glock mags

Personal preference here. But, the only non Glock mag I would trust would be a Magpul. I have two that have been in my rage bag since they first came out. I keep them fully loaded in between range trips and shoot with them at the range. Never had an issue with either of them (one is a full size the other a compact). With the price difference I would just buy new Glock mags.

I have a few KCI G43 mags and never had an issue, but I don't shoot them much. I have a few Magpul G17 mags. Have run a few IPSC matches with no issues.

I've used ETS mags at the range with no issues. I carried a 12 round G43 mag as a spare for a week. I dropped one in the checkout line at the supermarket and it split and ejected the rounds all over the floor. Heh.

I've never had an issue with a metal lined factory Glock mag. They're in the $20-$30 range new and I've had used mags anywhere from $5-$15. I've used aftermarket mags as range toys, but I only carry factory mags.

I had a magpull Glock mag that was junk. No other experience.
Just with one Magpul mag?

There was known issue when Magpul initially came out but that's been addressed since with a recall.

Magpul is now my primary range magazines for my Glocks/PCCs (Along with ARs) and after several years of hard use, no issues. I thought about feed lips wearing as a concern but that hasn't been a problem and all magazines continue to feed reliably. At this point, I would not hesitate to use them for SD/HD use along with factory Glock magazines. 👍

Glock is cheap enough. MagPul is probably just as good and a little cheaper. I see no reason to even try anything else. Some factory magazines for other rifles and pistols are $50-$100 each. I can see someone looking for a cheaper alternative at those prices.

I have a few MagPul's but primarily because they offer some versions not offered by Glock. They make a 12 round mag for the G26 that is only a tiny bit longer than factory 10 round mags and a lot shorter than Glock 10+2 mags. They also make, or at least made a 25 round 9mm mag.

Another vote for KCI mags here. I have them in g19, g17, and 33rd. All have run flawlessly. I highly recommend KCI. I use them exclusively for IDPA. Magpul has been good to go as well for me.

I also have a couple other off brand mags that have worked well as well.

I only have experience with magpul Glock 19 mags which have been just fine, and Palmetto mags for a Glock 48. Those have been fine too

Factory Glock mags are cheap enough, especially compared to SIG, Beretta, etc. No argument there. But when you compare the factory Glock 17 mags @ $23 a pop, to the KCI's or Magpul's at $10 a pop (GunMag Warehouse), that's the "why" about it. Two for one is a pretty good deal, especially for mags that work just as well as the factory mags do.

I put the factory mags that come with the guns aside and use them for my carry mags. The Korean and Magpul mags I use/abuse for practice. Keeps the factory mags fresh and alleviates the worry of something going wrong due to a beat up or worn out mag.

I also like to have a bunch of mags for each gun, mostly just so I don't have to keep loading them at the range. Im there to shoot and not load mags. I load them up before I go, and it makes things a lot easier.

Now, if I could just get the brass to all fly over into a nice little pile in one spot, no matter where I am when the gun goes off, Id be golden. Loading mags gets to be kind of a pain, emptying them is fun, and scrounging the brass after kind of sucks. But its all good, at least Im getting to shoot. :)

Had good luck with high cap kci mags, Glock, and magpul.

Like others have said, promags basically suck.

Will probably buy some of the new mec-gar glock mags as they work in just about everything else they offer.

Here are some comparison pics that show the new 18-round MecGar mag, a 15-round KCI G2 and a 15-round Magpul with a couple of Glock 17 mags. I have run all of these in my Ruger RXM with no issues.

The Magpul is the only one that isn't metal or have without a metal liner. The Magpul 15 rounder shown has the same length spring as the G17 mags. The 15-round KCI mag has a metal liner and a shorter spring than the Magpul. The MecGar mags appears to be a quality build and hold 18 rounds.

Ben Stoeger has two videos video on his YouTube channel where he reports that some folks have had issues with the MecGar mags dropping out while shooting. I'll link them at the end.

My experience, in just a couple of range trips with my Ruger RXM, Ruger PC Carbine and Keltec Sub2k, is that they all work for me. My use case in not self defense, just range use. I do not own a Glock.

According to flyer I received Natchez has standard capacity Glock mags for $20. Apparently sale end at end of March. I don't understand why people pick substitutes. I guess if one needs more ammo on board there are 24round 9mm magazines for $30.

Well..... If youre runnin' a switch and holding your shorts up with your off hand....

Anyone have experience with brands such as KCI, Pro mag or SGM? Specifically looking at the higher capacity ones like 33rd

ProMag and KCI are great for practicing malfunctions. I bought two of the cheap KCI ones, they sucked. Replaced the spring and follower with Glock OEM ones and they worked much better, but now cost more than the OEM Glock ones.

Buy the OEM Glock ones and be done with it
