Aguila strikes again

I can live with their flash holes being off center, but this is ridiculous. Had 43 out of a box of 50 that were like this. Had plenty of misfires due to light primer strikes, and oddly enough, I could actually hear the primer anvils hitting the target a split second after firing. Didn't know what I was hearing until I deprimed the brass and noticed that most of the anvils were gone, then put two and two together. Only reason I bought these was to have some re-loadable brass. I got $18 worth of aggravation and only 7 pieces of usable brass. I sent pics to Aguila and asked they compensate me so we'll see how much of a stand-up company they are. First time I've seen this with any brass, hopefully it'll be the last. It's 32 auto by the way.

It looks to me as the bottom of the primer pocket was so thin that the primer going off blew the bottom out. I have never seen that happen.

That's what I first thought, however after inspecting them closely, there are no signs they were ever there. The edges are too clean all the way around on all 43 of them for there to ever have been material attached. You'd think if they were there before firing, there should be at least some flashing where they broke loose, or a few that hung on. I'll try to get a better close-up and post it.

If they are deprimed I don't think you have much of a "case" claim, as they sell new ammo not ammo to be reloaded. I would have been better just to notify them of misfires or flaws in their ammo. But who knows??

Looks like the bottom of the primer pocket blew out when the cartridge
was fired. Seems as if all the cartridges fired the mfgr. can't go any further.
The case is expendable.

I really don't care if they do anything or not, but even if they do, I bought my last box of Aguila ammo. Here's one of the good cases and a bad one milled in half. Hard to tell, but may be two piece with a disk at the base. Who knows.

I guess that solves the problem of the flash hole being off center, of course it would be sort of nice if it wasn't the same size as the primer pocket.......
Looks to me like the flash hole is off center in your "good" case as well.

I have had good luck with Privi ammo as a brass donor when I have needed one.

Several times I've bought factory ammo for the purpose of obtaining the brass, and I had a lot of fun shooting them, but don't think reloading is exactly the 1st purpose the manufacturer intends. IMO you don't really have any right to compensation. You shot the ammo and it fulfilled its intended purpose. It went bang and sent the bullet down range. If the spent brass is reloadable, count that as icing on the cake. Non-reloadable junk? Meh.. ya learned a lesson. Buy better ammo next time.

Yep, the flash holes are always hit and miss with Aguila, more miss though. I never use a tight shell holder when depriming them either.

Aguila isn't usually my first choice when buying ammo. 32 auto isn't exactly well stocked either so sometimes we take what we can get. As for it's intended purpose, if it was to give a trigger finger a workout it did just that. Those 43 cartridges required more than 100 trigger pulls to fire.

In not sure of this, did all the rounds fire? If they did there has to be a primer seat so that the anvil could be pressed into the compound. It would not fire without a seat.

As for which ammo is reliable when you want reloadable .32 Auto brass, for me it's been Fiocchi ammo/brass.

Based on the lack of uniformity of the case on the right, that looks like a case failure rather than a two piece case. You are lucky you didn't have a head separation. You were hearing more than anvils hitting the target.

 :what: WOW ... just WOW.

Your photos in #9 reminded me of the only star line cases I ever had problems with.

This is one that let go.

And this is a brand new one.

I wonder if the ones you have, that didn’t fail have that jagged ridge in the radius?

I've fired and reloaded a ton of Aguila 32 auto. I have more Aguila than Fiocchi and I've never seen that problem with the brass, but most are from the blue boxes. The recent manufacture are red and white boxes. OP, would you please advise the lot number? Also, is Aguila loading their 32 in black plastic inserts now or is that from another brand? 32 auto reloaders know one thing, to recover more than half your brass is a good day. But for the bases to blow out... man I feel for ya.
