I've been flying to different parts of the country over the past few months for my employer. I'm usually very good about making sure the TSA prohibited items I carry go into my checked luggage. Note "usually". On a trip to Oklahoma City I left a small pouch with my Darryl Ralph Apogee and my SAK Soldier in the rental car. I noticed that they were not in my briefcase after entering the airport and thought "I'm sure I must have put them in my bags". After checking the bags paranoia set in and I went back to the slot I'd checked the rental car in and there the pouch sat having slid between the passenger seat and the door. Now what??!!! Well if I'd left them there odds are that Hertz would have mailed them to me, but since the Easter Bunny hadn't left me a basket this year I thought I shouldn't impose upon the rental company. I scurried up to the Delta counter, but too late for them to bother to send the pouch down to be put in my LARGE international orange duffle. The counter clerk told me that there was a shipping drop box at the security checkpoint that I could ship anything from. I expected to find a FedEx or UPS or even Airborne, but instead found a CheckPointMailers http://checkpointmailers.com/ box with packaging and labels and "contract". I dropped the knives in the bubble pouch, filled out the forms (agreeing to pay $12 per item) and qued up in the shute with the rest of the air cattle with a knot in my gut instead of the comforting knowledge that my expensive custom and sentimental SAK were nestled in my shave kit.
