Hello guys, have a question.

New AK47 slide wants to catch before sliding all the way forward, any suggestions on how to fix this?

It's probably dragging on the remnants of the auto sear. The bolt tries to cam it out of the way on the return stroke. It won't hurt anything but you might notice some trigger slap when you shoot it.

A fix is to purchase and install a U.S. Made trigger group.

its new so probably just needs some breakin in, it will eventually smooth out.

The slide (bolt carrier) is just catching on the trigger group, nothing to worry about. It gets smoother with use.

It's catching on the top of the hammer. If it's a problem for you then you can remove material from the top of the hammer and round it off. It's normal for the bolt to catch that part of the hammer.

Work the bolt back and forth slowly and observe where it catches. I had a WSAR 10 that would hang up slightly where the piston enters the housing.

I wouldn't worry as it will smooth up over time.

Letting us know the make and modle would help. If your running a G2 trigger then it's normal. Don't worry about it.

Yeah, sounds normal. After a while things will loosen up.

Okay. A new trigger group will fix it or you can just dremel off a bit the tab on the back of the hammer.

What's happening is that you have part of the full auto trigger pack still in your WASR. But, with out the rest of it the bolt is caming part of the sear out of the way causing that drag feeling and maybe some trigger slap.

A new trigger will fix it.

Are you talking about hand cycling, or during firing?

If when hand cycling, and it's new, don't worry about it. Don't mess around with tools or alterations.

If when firing, get it looked at.

I second what DPris said.

My WASR has probably 1000 rounds through it, a polished bolt carrier and hammer, and it still hangs when I hand cycle it. Never been a problem when I was shooting it, even when brand new. Lots of these rifles seem to do this.

If it doesn't hang when you're shooting it, don't sweat it.

It happens a little bit even with my Tapco trigger group in my Saiga.

Don't baby it. Pull the bolt back and let it fly. It's just rubbing on top of the hammer. It'll smooth out.
