I used to have a cheap side rail and nc star red dot on my ak that was dim but it worked. I gave that rail to a friend and got a utg quick release side rail. I have it on very tight but there's only one bolt in the middle vs the two my old one had. I've recently tried a truglo reflex and a 2x truglo tube sight. With both, I'd shoot a few rounds and my poi would vary significantly after a few shots. I thought maybe it was my cheap optics and find a trs-25 on sale, and I've had the same problem. I think I physically saw the dot drop down some right after my last shot. It shoots just fine with irons. I'm wondering if my mount Is the problem because the trs25 is supposed to be a decent optic. Has anyone else had this problem?

1. UTG quick release mount is not a solid mount. Tolerances are not good and the lock lever does nothing to prevent the mount from shifting up/down or side/side. 2. There are a few different rail designs in use. You might have a psl/svd rail or something totally different. Most of the century AKs produced the past few years have a proprietary rail which only really works with their proprietary RAS mount. Best bet is post a picture or do some searches through AK files or similar web resources.

I use a trs25 mounted on a utg quick detach siderail mount, and have had no issues at all.
When the siderail mount lever is clamped down, it doesn' move at all

Do check your rail to receiver mounting - too often the stamped receiver AKs show rail play. Easily fixed with a TIG/MIG welder.

As others have said, confirm the type of rail and that you have the correct mount for it. After that, I would look into better mount for sure and possibly a better scope/dot. Going cheap for mounts rarely pays off.

I thought about putting optics on my Centurion 39, but I read so much stuff like this that I just decided to go with high-quality ghost ring sites.

I can hit a 14 inch steel plate all day long at 150 yards with the thing, and I don't have to worry about it losing zero. I've been very happy with my decision.

more likely its the mount..
i have that same setup 643707.jpg on my sks on a front rail mounted and it stays zeroed fine with me.looks like this similar photo online

Rail or the mount. I have a utg 1/2" riser on a Holosun red dot / AR picatinny rail and it doesn't budge. Make sure the mount / optic, etc is pushed fully forward toward the muzzle end before tightening. Speaking of TruGlo, I have one of their gigantic red dot / laser combos w/ QD and it too stays secure.

I have an RS Regulate AK-301M with an MRO on one of my 74s, it’s very solid and adjustable for centering over the bore. It holds zero perfectly when detaching and reattaching if you want to use irons. RS Regulate also makes mounts for full size scopes. Check them out if you want quality.

I got a kick out of

So you still have a cheap side rail.
A front rail mount like Ultimak's or Troy's will be a better solution.
