That's for me to know and not you!
I want to purchase an AK lower reciever and build one from there. Is the lower reciever on the 47 or 74 the same or similiar to the Dragunov rifle. Keep in mind I live in California and I will have to put on the monster grip to make it legal or semi legal for that matter. I would appreciate any info you guys could suggest. I have looked at cold war shooters but I thought I would consult you guys first. Tell me what you guys think. Thank you.

First, in the Kalashnikov design there is only one receiver, so there is no lower receiver.

Second, AFAIK the AK-47/74 receiver isn't even close to the design of the Dragunov receiver.

I just ordered a couple AK receivers from NoDak Spud LLC. They come pretty well recomended and the price is hard to beat.

Thanks very much. i did not know that information. Anyone have any suggestions for building a dragunov or atleast an accurized scoped ak?

I have checked out the site. Any recommendations on a reciever that requres FFL transfer? AK 47 preferably?

SAIGA... And legal in Ca.

You can buy incomplete AK recievers with no paperwork, but assembling them in Ca would be illegal.

Just get a Saiga.

Word is they're quite accurate. They're already CA-legal as-is, fully functional and non-bastardized. MonsterMan has its place but it is a pretty poor solution compared to a regular rifle buttstock, if it fits on the gun.

A scope goes on it easily. .308 version is $320 complete. 7.62 is $265.

If you want it to be a bit more AK-looking, get a foreend from Tapco. You can have CA-legal all-Russian-made gun with a stock that works well and detachable magazines.

Comes like this:

For $75 you can add this butt (out of California, of course):

Again, you can change out the foreend easily, too.

Romanian PSL/Romak3 off an unlisted reciever. Grab one quick, they're getting harder to find. Estimated cost to build one is between $500-800

All you have to do is AK maglock the mag or fill the stock. My freind has one and it's pretty dead on. Problem has it the rail isnt to spec with AK or dragunov mounts and needs to be modified.

Buy a PSL. Then fill out the stock so it is no longer a thumbhole. that way it will be legal to own and use with a detachable mag.
