I use the 30rd European steel mags from AIM Surplus. They are about $10 a piece and are built like tanks. They are allegedly used although all five of mine appear completely new.

I've also stuck with the quality Commie garbage out of Europe. Works flawlessly, inexpensive, and seems like they'll last forever.

Some steel surplus mags, origin unknown. Work great.

Tapco 20-rounders. Also work great. Gives me a good grip on my *ahem* foregrip-less Draco pistol.

Arsenal 5-rounder. Came with the rifle, great for the range. Works flawlessly.

Only mag I ever had trouble with was a Korean 75-round drum. Wouldn't load the last 5 rounds, jammed constantly, follower broke on the first range trip.

I have 4 tapcos and 2 steel, like the tapcos much better, look cool too. I use ak for action shooting and drop the mags all the time during changes and they get no damage. If you have a WASR they will not wobble like the steel ones do.

Commie mags are definitely the strongest and most reliable.

Quick question, why do people often not like Chinese mags? IIRC they're thinner gauge, and the front locking lug is stamped rather than solid steel, but the much-loved Bulgarian mags are the same. Bulgarians use Chinese-style tooling.

Origin perhaps???

Ive got many, MANY Chicom mags, and must say they have never failed me. At the time, they were the same price as a follower, so I decided to get whole mags instead of replacement parts.

Chinese drums have been flawless as well. Only thing is they are heavy and the winding thing gets old after a while. Fun to have regardless.

Never problems with E. German either. It was only promag that (in my experience) were not worth ANY price. No experience with tapco personally, but word on the street is they are subpar to surplus mags.

I use 4 Tapco 30rd mags and a Romanian 75rd drum. All purchased a while back from Aimsurplus with my WASR 10/63 AK. Magazines are built tough and feed properly. Same goes with the drum (and I do NOT shoot 1 round every 5 seconds). I put my AK to work!

For some reason my WASR 10-63 works flawlessly with Tapco Mags and jams on the first round with steel mags when the magazine is not jammed hard into the magwell. My GP 1975 feeds Tapcos and steel mags flawlessly. I you go polymer, go Tapco.
