those places looked a little high, try:

    www.k-var.com

    www.cdnninvestments.com

    www.aimsurplus.com

    www.interordnance.com

i would not pay more than 10$ for a new 30 round steel magazine. k-var still has waffles for 10.99 and aimsurplus may still have polish polymer for 9.99, if plastic mags are you flavor. if not cdnn has brand new steel bulgarian mags for 8.99.

i have all three and i must say i am very happy with them(polish polymer, waffles and steel) all were brand new and function great.

Tapco also has AK mags and is good to deal with. I got a couple of their "Used - Excellent" 20 round Hungarian mags and they look brand spankin' new. $7.99 each.

i really can't think of any. there are variations in mags made in certain places(chinese mags have no rear spine) but they all work fine in my AMD and SKS type-m. you may want to avoid the magazines that will hold the bolt open, i forget where these are made but you have to fight the force of the bolt carrier to take them out and then it slams shut, best to avoid those altogether.

other than that just make sure you don't get burned on the price.

SKS have fixed 10 round magazines(except for a few special Chinese models that are designed to take normal AK mags). The detachables you see are AK mags modified to fit SKS, but usually do not do such a good job. They will not fit AKs.

In addition to the vendors mentioned above by eatatjoes, www.tapco.com has some good deals on AK mags now and then.

I've been buying AK mags from Tapco. New Pre-ban Romanian 30 round mags are going for $9.99 & 20 round Hungarian Tanker Mags are going for $7.99. 40 round Romanian $14.99. Go over to AK-net and there are a couple of posts containing info on cheap mags. I think there is one where you get 3 used 30 round Romanians and an mag pouch for around $25.

http://www.rpbusa.com/ak.html has chinese mags for 6.95$. i'm not sure where the 4 for 24.95$ deal is but it's out there.
