i have a feeling that noise, muzzleflash, and overpenetration might be problems...not sure though. just a guess.

I saw one at a gun show a few years back. The problem is with over penatration and muzzle flash. Of course they have not been imported for years so finding one is going to be hard too.

Not a problem. Parts have been imported for years, U.S. parts are added, and you have yourself an AK. This has been going on for years. SInce the AWB passed away last year, you can now make the AK pistols. This is common knowledge among AW lovers.

I just finished shooting mine. (backyard range)

It's an impressive machine. Extremely well made.
I bought it from jokem. They must be selling like crazy because I had a several month wait and at one time they said they had 300 back ordered.

    Home defense?
No way would you want to be on the wrong end of one. :D

    Over penetration?
Of course it will over penetrate, it's a rifle round.

It's got a 11 inch barrel but Wolf 122gr HP is still doing 2214FPS. Several other brands I chronographed are doing the same.

Today I shot it at 1/4 steel at 15 yards. All brands tested blew right through the steel except Wolf 154gr SP, which also only chronographs at 2054fps.

The most accurate ammo I've found for it so far is the Wolf 154gr SP.

It could take advantage of a good hand-load.

One of todays targets. Wolf 154 SP. 100 yards.

    1/4 inch steel.
    Left to right.

Wolf 154gr SP-didn't penetrate all the way through
    Cheetah FMJ- (down)
    Old Norinco FMJ Green box
    Silver Bear Match
Wolf 122gr FMJ- it doesn't look like it penetrated but that is just some "scrap metal" in the hole

    Price.
jokem gave me the dealer's price of $450, $27.49 shipping and my dealer only charges $15 transfer.

I think they have gone up a little.

I saw a few at the gun shows while I was waiting for mine and the quality didn't compare. An outfit called "Ewbank Mfg Winslow, AZ" made it and did a 1st class job.

Seems they put good barrels on them to.

A friend was shooting it at about 20 yards and when he emptied the magazine all the rounds were in about a half inch hole. (with a BSA Red Dot)

US parts aren't required in a pistol.

Yeah, 922(r) only applies to rifles and shotguns. Pistols, SBRs, SBSs, and AOWs are exempt from what I understand.

    Maybe a Desantis shoulder rig?

No way you can carry that IWB.

    Wicked cool and fun.

Correct. 922(r) specifically names semi-automatic rifles and shotguns.

ATF has ruled that 922(r) only addresses the assembly of "nonsporting" firearms and does not prohibit the assembly of NFA weapons from imported parts.

There is currently a bill in congress to remove the "sporting clause" of the '68 GCA, which would eliminate all of this "parts count" stupidity.

For carry to my range I attached a sling stud to the back of the receiver and made a sling that hangs the gun about belt high.

I guess if a person traveled in really bad neighborhoods it could be concealed under a coat. :)

A friend just gave me a ChiCom AK drum magazine. Now that might be a little hard to conceal. And with that mag the gun weighs 10 pounds:D

    I want a 7.62 X 39 Krinkoff SO bad!!!
    Not the semi-only pistol version,
Not the restricted SBR semi version,
But a select fire, folding stock, SBR, fire-breathin bullet hose.
Id carry it like Tuco in The Good, Bad, and Ugly, on a long laynard around my neck.

I almost bought one of these at the gun show this weekend in Richmond. $499. Looked uber cool. Some yahoo next to me said AKs aren't accurate so it's just spray and pray with them. ;)
