I did a quick search on here about Alien Gear holsters and had some mixed results. The company is semi local (60 miles) and I always try and support local business. I EDC a Ruger Max-9 and I prefer IWB. Anyone have comments about quality and comfort of their Cloak Tuck 3.5 and Drop Leg holsters?

Captain Quack.

I only have experience with their Cloak tuck magazine holsters. Those are pretty comfortable and work for my single and double stacks. The ability to switch between carrying a mag IWB and OWB is stellar.

Haven't tried the holsters. They don't have much support for optics and lights.

I have one of there older IWB holsters (Cloak Tuck I think is what they called it) and its one of the most comfortable holsters I have tried. I liked it so well I bought one of the Shape Shifter Core packages last year when I started to carry my Sig 365. I have only used the OWB on that one but I like it so far. Supper nice that you can get multipal shells for like $29.00 ea and convert the setup around for your different pistols. You can return a used holster after having worn it up to 30s (they call it a 30 day test drive). Check out their web sight. I highly recommend them.

The Cloak Tuck 3.5 https://aliengearholsters.com/alien-gear-cloak-tuck-3-0-iwb-holster-inside-the-waistband.html.html

I can't imagine what application I'd use a drop leg holster for a little gun like a Ruger Max 9.

It's a well made holster, It has two belt straps It is a wide holster, lot of material, bigger than the Ruger!. Kinda like putting on a girdle I would imagine.

I have one. It is the 3.0 version You can free exchange the kydex shells for another gun if you want.

For $15 plus shipping it's yours if you want it. You will need to send the shell to them for whatever gun you want.
PM me if you want.

I've got an IWB Alien for my 1911... it's probably the most comfortable IWB holster I've ever used, but it's quite bulky. I think the build quality is decent.

I carry my Steyr L9A1 in an Alien Gear IWB (not sure which one, but it’s a two clip basic leather backer/Kydex molded style). When I got it I was a little disappointed that despite being advertised as fitting the L9 it was apparently made for the “M” sized Steyr pistol and I needed to chop the last half inch off the front of the holster to allow the gun to fit. It’s a little annoying since I was wanting a fully enclosed front however the Steyr unlike say a 1911 is well rounded on the front and doesn’t eat holes jeans so it worked out.

The holster has held up well for about 3 years now and it was good enough to convince a friend who was holster shopping for his M&P to also go with Alien gear. I have no complaints about it after the initial needed modification to fit my gun. It holds the gun securely (for a no positive retention IWB) and sits comfortably. If I have to buy a holster and AG is selling one that fits my needs I may buy from them again.

I used a cloak tuck for several years. Holster worked fine, and I’d use it again if needed.

I have a Crossbreed Supertuck that has been great. If I needed a double clip style holster today, I would probably buy a Black Arch Holster.

I have been using one of these holsters for my Sig P938 for a few years now. They are nice holsters.

My problem is that most Alien Gear and Cross Breed holsters are meant to wear at the 4 O'clock position which just doesn't work for me. I bought a Cross Breed IWB holster to fit my Taurus 85 and was very disappointed with it. The shell was riveted to the leather backer instead of using rubber washers and Chicago screws. Any kind of bend in the leather backer and I can't draw the revolver out of the holster. There is zero adjustability in teh Cross Breed holster I have.

I have one of their older holsters and it is comfortable to wear. But mostly I use a Wright Leather Works holster for carrying IWB.

I have several AG holsters of the Cloak 1.0 and 3.0 vintage. I also have a couple of new belly bands by them. I use the belly bands but I don't use any double clip holsters any more where the clips are that widely spaced. No problems here with AG.

Variety is the spice of life. Would be pretty boring if we all had the same stuff. Try it out. They give ya 30 days. Return if ya don’t like it.

Mine is riveted like you mention, but in all the years I haven't had any of those issues with mine. Mine is for a G26 and I wonder if the revolver application is different. The only bending mine does is on the wings to conform to my body.

OP, regarding the AG brand, I would say that I have seen more negative comments online for that brand, but I have no personal experience with them. That probably sways my opinion a little, but if that's the one you like I would try it out for the 30 days and evaluate it yourself. Although, a lot of the negativity seems to come from premature wear over time, not initial quality when it arrives.

I have a couple of the Alien Gear IWB sets and I ordered the Max-9 shell - I included a note that it had an optic. In a few days I got my shell, and it even is molded to partially enclose the optic for protection. I've got several shells now that I can swap out depending on what firearm is going to be carried. The small Max-9 rides well, but full size 1911 and Beretta 92 does as well.

Had a tuck model, nice stuff just not for me. Found out after a few styles I’m a plain Jane kydex IWB guy.

I decided to take advantage of the 30 day trial and ordered the Cloak Tuck 3.5 for my Ruger Max and a Cloak Drop Leg for my Ruger P95 Picked up a double mag carrier as well. I ordered by phone at 6:40 this morning and had a phone call at 10:37 that my order was ready to pick up. I'll be driving up tomorrow. Give me a chance to check out some bigger gun stores as well. Even got the Holster/mag discount and the multi holster discount as well. I'm now well kitted out to try and survive my NRA personal protection in the home course on the 24th if the memory allows. Thanks for all the suggestions and comments everyone.

Sweet! Have a nice trip, enjoy yourself, and stay safe!:)

Thanks .308 Norma. We'll be pretty safe. I carry. She carries. It's a AWD car with good tires and really good Air conditioning. Forest Fire smoke is not to bad today The only thing I'm worried about is the crowed that will be there when I stick my head in a big sporting goods store just as they put the new stock out.

While trying the rigid, crossbreed holster, an off-duty Lady Deputy behind me in Walgreen's told me as a courtesy "Your gun is visible" (the Sig P229). I thanked her and decided to avoid any other hard shells.

My (non-clip) IWB Remora is perfect, and every handgun's grip touches my hip with far less protrusion into a shirt than the closest position on that rigid holster I had.. Want to change the gun's angle/"cant" (whatever....) on your hip etc? Simply move it a bit and it stays where you leave it.

Maybe I should have tried an "Alien Gear" holster, but this This link depicts my only regular "alien gear":

LOL. So far so good. I wore the IWB around the house all day and forgot I had it on under a loose t-shirt and a Hawaiian shirt. Once I got the cant it was invisible with the Max 9. Yesterday I wore the leg drop and the only problem is fitting the lower strap. I might have to send it back and get the next size down otherwise it was quite comfortable even when sitting all day. I'm only planning on using it mostly at the range and when out in the boonies for the P95. Re holstering all the time in the IWB is a PITA with the love handles I like the fact that I can swap the kydex back and forth if I just am going to shoot the MAX instead of the P95. So far so good.
