Brave or stupid?
Absher opened his door, pointed a pistol at one of the suspects and then grabbed the suspect's gun

Kentucky State Police want to find two men who tried to force their way into an Allen County home early Tuesday morning.

The alleged home invasion happened around 3 a.m. at Gordon Absher's house at 3440 Old Bowling Green Road in Scottsville.

Absher says someone rang the doorbell, and when he looked outside he saw two men with their faces covered holding shotguns. Absher opened his door, pointed a pistol at one of the suspects and then grabbed the suspect's gun. Absher says the two men ran down the driveway to their truck, leaving the shotgun and other evidence behind.

Police are looking for two white men in their early 20s, traveling in a small dark-colored pickup truck. Anyone with information should call Kentucky State Police at (270) 782-2010.

I have this hilarious mental image of two masked gunmen politely ringing the doorbell and waiting for it to be opened...

Weird though. New to their profession? Prank? Just plain surprised?

My lord.

Is it turkey season in Kentucky? That's the only possible explanation that occurs to me for opening the door to two masked men holding shotguns. I'd leave the door closed and call 911. I might shoot through the door if I felt the need, but hell no I wouldn't open it. No, I wouldn't shoot through the door 'cause I'd be as far to the side and out of the possible line of fire as possible.

Mr. Absher must be a real tactical ninja dewd.

you never know

i had a customer jump an armed robber (because he knew it was a starters pistol) cop pointed out the bullet hole in the floor from the "blank"

another time there was a punk with a shotgun who had a beef with my korean dishwasher he was out in parking lot talking smack and damned if jinho didn't run out there chase him down take the gun and beat him 1/2 to death. i'd of tried to stop him from doing it i'd already called cops but in my wildest dreams i never imagined he run out there. caught me flat footed and open mouthed

Back when I was young and dumb, I had an incident which still makes me cringe. I had stopped in Gallup for gas, about 02:30am, and had a scruffy lad jump into the passenger seat as I was pulling out. He pointed a little .22 at me and said "Drive." I pulled out onto Rt66 and floored that big Ford. At about 90, he was getting somewhat nervous. At 110, he was starting to yell at me. I reached down where I had the 1917 strapped to the door, pulled it up and said "Mine's bigger than yours." He threw his little .22 into the back seat and hit the floor under the dash. I turned him over to the Farmington police when we got there.

DUMB! But it worked that time.
