Went to a pool hall last night and planned on going straight home so I didn't bring the gun. In TX we can't carry into establishments that make 51% or more of their money from alcohol sales to be consumed on site.

I get a call from a buddy who had car trouble, about 30 minutes out of town. Meet up with him and helping out. Later into the night I get a call from my mother at the house,

"Do you have your gun???"

I'm thinking, "great, one of the rare times I'm not carrying..."

Turns out our other house was being broken into, the cops were called, and nobody was there...but she wanted me to go check it out and reset the alarm. I figured that...

1. I'm not armed
2. I'm not risking my neck over ugly furniture (all that we had at the house)
3. It's late and that's a bad neighborhood

Needless to say it was a false alarm, a bird flew down the chimney and set off the motion detectors. I'm just thinking I'm going to always have a gun nearby, even if I have to lock it in the car.

I HATE leaving my gun in the car  but I prefer that to not having one close. :what:

I paid about $100 for a Tuffy glovebox safe for my Jeep. If I can't carry, I at least have it locked up in there, which is never that far away. I figure a gun might get stolen, but I've done about all that I reasonably can to prevent theft.

As Henry Bowman sez, a pistol is like your car's safety belt, you have to wear it all the time!

Jesse, too bad about that silly 51% law. We Yankees have no problems as a consequence of shooting pool while armed. As much progress has been made down in Tejas, maybe rid yourselves of it next year?

I too don't like the idea of keeping a gun in the car. I also don't like leaving a gun in a brief case or messenger bag & walking away from it. I much prefer having one on me. That is why I purchased a mousegun a while back, for those times when a larger gun just isn't possible.
Good luck

Just like you American Express Card, Don't leave home without it!

*Sigh* I envy you all.

We're not allowed to always have our guns here. Our elected officials don't trust us. And the sheeple don't care.:barf:
