Obviously 11 people don't think so. I'd never pay that. If I wanted a gun like that. $375 tops.

At this moment in time? Probably not. Last year at this time? Mostly likely yes.

The value of anything is only what someone is willing to pay for it.
I guess someone thinks this revolver is worth around 7 bills with shipping and transfer fees. Plus 4% for using their card.

I've seen some outrageously high prices on some revolvers on GB lately. There's a Ruger GP100 357 5" stainless model 1740 for starting bid of $1499 "buy it now" of @2199 which should be about $700. I saw a Ruger Speed Six 2.75" 357 go for $2275 a couple weeks ago. You can't blame them for trying I guess.

11 people saw 38 spl in stock somewhere, and it was all thats left. i went into a Sportmans wherehouse last saturday, and saw dozens of boxes of .40 S/W, and nothing else. 32acp was sold out, 8mm remmag was sold out, but .40 was there. Its possible all these bidders bought out the .38 "cuz its thar" and didn't have a .38 to use it in. They see this 'Plastical' (get it ) .38 and go into Doberman mode.

I guess there's a reason people sell things at auction rather than a set price. Bidding wars can sometimes net you a windfall. It only takes two wrongheaded people to take a used LCR up to this kind of price. (Could the holster add that much value? If not, the sale price doesn't remotely reflect market value.) It would be interesting to see if this seller actually follows through on the transaction, though.

The winning bidder is an NR buyer, and he put in several bids toward the end of the auction. You have to watch out for these guys. They can run up those bids to ridiculous heights because it's their first auction and they haven't got any self restraint. They're bidding on something they've just got to have and get caught up in the moment and just damn the expense they put in another bid. I think these buyers are the ones that might renege on their obligation and refuse to complete the purchase, and that's why they've got a bad rep with sellers. You might want to keep that item in your watch list just to see if it eventually comes up as relisted. And be careful bidding on auctions where there's an NR jumping in toward the end.

@wiscoaster ... you are sooo.. right .. I always checkout other bidders on Gunbroker if Im really interested in placing a bid ... a bad bidder can ruin a auction

All of the above is why I prefer Guns International as it is a a firearms classified site, not an auction site.

All the more reason to have (or to get if you don't) a pistol chambered in .40 S&W. I've got a couple and I wouldn't be without one.

I’m seeing a TON of 2-5 feedback bidders who haven’t bought anything on GB for several years. They, and the brand-new NR bidders on the site, are bidding crazy dollars for defensive guns and ammo, buying up everything in sight. :(

    Capitalism in motion I guess...

    Stay safe.

sure your right, obviously right, but still weird to see.... empty, TOTALLY empty, just the .40.... 7.62 Tok? gone. 25acp? gone... 375 h&h? Gone... but that 40..... most popular pistol cartridge of the 90's, its just weird. i get it, I understand it, but weird. I always liked the .40 as a defense cal, but not much else.

Come on, that is not a unreasonable price at all for a LCR in todays market. Just a little above MSRP and where do you think you are going to find on in the first place. They are sold OUT every where I looked. Did a search and saw this even though they are out.

    RUGER LCR
    $799.99

It seems folks do not realize how serious things are right now and it is just getting warmed up. Especially NOW.

Every repeating firearm is up for grabs at a premium right now, I have seen Maverick 88s sell for 400, same for Taurus 85s, i have seen Smith Sigmas and SDVs sell for 375, everyone just wants "something".

Folks are bringing up some good points: shortages and the law of supply and demand can wreak havoc on prices, so that may be the going rate now.

So the price may be legitimate...but the timing for deciding to buy an LCR isn't. ;)

Any price can be asked for anything, no one is forcing anyone to buy anything - simple stuff.

Discretionary income a bit ahead of thoughtful thinking. Panic will subside and prices will stabilize. This craziness? It too will pass.

I had $145 credit on my Cabela's CC card so on my way to Mayo Clinic I thought I would stop and cash that out while I could. Either on ammo or as part of a gun purchase. I didn't go upstairs to the lunch counter because I wasn't sure I had enough credit to get a cup of coffee. To be fair they did have 5 boxes of .22LR (50 round boxes) that were only $7.99 a box. I bought a bag of candy thinking it perhaps may have been used on the chance someone may have lost a gold filling in one of the pieces. Struck out on a high priced bag of candy and went on my way. Still got most of the candy. I have to sharpen my chisel as it is a bit stale.
