America's Firearm and Ammo Supply Chain Safe?

We gave up our manufacturing base for corporate profits based on the labor costs elsewhere. I note that the rich elites in NY are fleeing to the Hamptons. The working folks have to lose paychecks or take the crowded subways to work when sick. Family in the NW tells me that sick folk have to go be a barista as they have no benefits or sick time.

I read that 75% of our drugs come from China or India. We don't make respirators. That's annoying for this crisis. Imagine a war with China, if you want to posture about such. Hello, China - we will fight a perfect war against you with fire and fury. Oh, you aren't going to send the drugs and supplies our soldiers need during the war?

Oops.

Thank you for not labeling this a SHTF discussion.

I'm a free market capitalist at heart but profits that put our safety at risk is not smart. It will take the people seeing what is wrong with this picture and continue to vote for people who will work to fix it. It's hard for small business to put a dent in this situation.

All the consumer can do is not buy Chinese crap. (and vote to stop this soul selling)

My Great Grand Parents (& subsequent family who lived into their 90's) survived much harder times and the Great Depression without toilet paper, hand sanitizer, electricity or a barn full of ammo. With a little creative ingenuity most people will do just fine.

The local Cabela's had tons of 9mm, 40 SW, 22LR and 45 ACP - all kinds of 12 gauge (except for flite control 00). I had some points with them, so I used it to get things I use in matches. Basically WWB 9mm.

Now lets everyone run around telling everyone to stock up on ammo and reloading stuff and then those of us who actually need the stuff wont be able to find it. Went to Walmart and another chain last night and no milk, bread, meats, water, eggs, lunch meat, etc. So sick of the whole worlds gonna end crap. Ammo isn't going anywhere but I'm sure a few hundred people who check this forum will rush right out and empty a savings account because of a virus.

Well, it wasn't helped by that Ohio official announcing 100,000 people in Ohio had coronavirus. Right now, the figure nationwide is probably short of that number right now. My guess is she was talking about worst case scenario.

The governor closed all schools for the next month, the health dept lady made her 100,000 people comment, I have guys at work telling everyone that martial law is going to happen. I just got word that Walmart and other stores parking lots are so full you cannot find a parking spot. If people are so freaked out they are hoarding TP and peroxide I fear we will be right back to an ammo shortage.

Supply chains are so integrated, and the US has exported its industry to become a "Service Sector" economy, that every manufacturer, or buyer, is finding that they are going to have problems.

But, I would be more worried about surviving the coranvirus than whether the local store will have primers. You are not going to be shooting if you are sick. No vaccine will be available for at least 18 months and there is the real chance of re infections, as this comes and goes. I don't know if surviving the first infection somehow provides immunity, but if this virus is like others, it will mutate and then you will come down with version B, then C, then D.

I agree but there seems to be a lag on the ammo buying. Probably when Brownells and Midway orders are stuck at UPS hubs, people will be flooding LGS and Academys.

Yes this might be a way bigger problem than people realize. World leaders sure are showing lots of stress on their faces when they lie to us.:scrutiny:

When were Coronavirus’s 1 - 18? Even some educated folks I know that work in the medical field are getting caught up in the media hype.

Back to guns and ammo. I have noticed that since the beginning of this year that certain types of handgun and .223 / 5.56 are staying out-of-stock. Maybe it is just happening with certain retailers but I am wondering if the “silent majority” are stocking up. I am in the process of shooting up and replacing my Clinton era stash so I guess I am restocking up.

FYI. All of the ammo are 25 - 30 years old and so far has shot fine which makes me wonder about the stories of powder degradation.

I highly recommend that new Glock! But not because China is trying to destroy us with biological weapons.
And right there it is. I have read 2 pages saying this isn't a conspiracy, political scare tactic or even a panic, SHTF thread but this right here shows this is exactly what it is.

I tried to bring the thread back on topic one time and everybody wants to talk about anything but the supply chain issue so I'm going with it from here.

Notice you quoted my replies to other people who were not on topic?

So do you have any first or second hand knowledge about the firearm and ammo supply chain? Anything new? I gave my first hand account of carbide cutting tools.

I wonder about the materials for the plastic frames? Are springs bought in bulk from China?

The supply chain of what? Saw blades and medications. The only supply chain that myself and any other normal American should be worried about is yes, medications but also food. People are getting really stupid around here with buying carts full of soaps, baby wipes, Lysol, paper towels, etc. I know a mother of a baby and she cannot find baby wipes anywhere. What's next, adults wiping their butts with baby diapers? China isn't out to get us, Bloomberg isn't even running anymore so who cares about him. People are losing their freaking minds in Ohio because of crap in the internet like this. Everyone needs to calm down and relax and if they get sick they get sick.

Sounds like you need to find the beer isle and chill out.

No, no. you haven't been paying attention to the thread. Your not supposed to buy beer your supposed to buy ammo! You need the ammo and the Lysol wipes so when the Corona Virus kicks in your door you can shoot at it and if that doesn't work maybe throw some TP rolls at it or something. I don't know to be honest.

well before it closes... Tuesday in the Gainesville FL Bass Pro the handgun ammo section was literally more than half empty shelves and I have not seen it like that ever, even in storm season.

Helped another guy looking for ANY 9x19mm and we found not even little boxes of expensive HD ammo never mind cheap hardball.

Last month's trip to town showed piles of .223 including cases of M193 and green tips and this weeks I found only individual boxes of premium .223

Oddly I thought at the time, there was only one box of .30-30 on the shelf that day. Looking at it now with TP and canned meat shortages I wonder.
