Just got back from walfart with 600rnds of WWB 9mm :) (limit of 6 boxes to each customer)

They still had at least 10 boxes of 9mm, 4 of .45 auto, and....... awe heck, I can't remember..... .44?

Anyways, either I have been timing it better, or things are loosening up a bit :D
Isn't the ammo sold at Wal-Mart all range ammo FMJ and not home defense or personal protection ammo? I notice the cheaper ammo is all gone along with the lower cost 30.06 ammo for around $20.00. I see lots of 40.00+ 30.06 ammo on the shelves.

Our Walmarts have some pistol ammo other than WWB that would be considered by some to be self defense ammo. Its still usually pretty generic, and your basic JHP type ammo.

For blasitng and practice ammo, Walmarts WWB 9mm 100 round Value packs at $21 are still one of the better, if not the best deals out there. I usually buy one or two each week as they have them, which for the most part, they do around here.

Is the ammo sold at Wal-mart primarily for range shooting or for personal protection? From what I have seen most of it is the cheaper FMJ ammo used for the range. All the cheaper cost ammo is gone I do see the 30.06 $40.00+ boxes on the shelves. But then again the 20.00 boxes of 30.06 boxes are sold o ut.
The stuff I see in pistol ammo is the plinker FMJ value stuff (UMC WWB) but I was able to buy WWB in .45acp JHP for $28.00.

The rifle ammo I buy is Remington Express which I consider top line stuff for about $14.00 a box in .30/30

Your choices are a) use an indoor range (That way, you know your brass is "somewhere in this room" as opposed to "somewhere on this planet")
Not a choice here in Palm Beach County Florida. The politicians force us to use over priced ammo furnished by the range..

At least as yesterday, Cablela's had some Fiocchi .380 in stock.

This thread is awesome.

Not only does Cabelas still have the .380 ammo (as of 1:00 PM Sat), they have the .380 reloading dies everyone seems to be out of.

My local WM had nothing but .22LR and FIVE different .223 offerings. And plenty of each kind!

Olin Mfgrs statement that the ammo shelves will be stocked for Christmas seems to be on track with the market.

Of what ammo that could be found which is nill most of the time, all ammo here at Wal-mart has been FMJ mainly range and bulk ammo. I guess if it comes in hollow point it would be considered a home defense, personal defense or hunting round but all of which is non-existant here.

Cabellas has a great selection of all kinds of ammo even the exotic hi-velocity stuff like Corbon and Buffalo Bore.

Wal-Mart has plenty of JHP and self-defense ammo where I live.

I got me 200 rnds ...

Expensive, but my Bersa is bored.
I got some of their extreme velocity brand. Missed it the first time so had to put in one additional order and paid the extra shipping. I would have preferred to put everything down in one order vs. a few orders broken up because I kept finding more stuff to buy.

Everything but .45 acp

Here on the left coast (Seattle), I can get just about anything I need. Tons of .40, 9mm, 38, .223, FMJ and designer. Prices are not ridiculous. The royal pain in the butt is 45 acp to feed my XD. Maybe a box or two can be snagged once in a blue moon...has me rethinking it's usefuleness as a SHTF sidearm.

This whole situation is just going to make shooting at the range a more expensive hobby for those of us that like to do that and of course make it difficult for you to get ammo to protect yourself.
Seattle, Washington is a different state. Here in California it's the worst anti-gun place that I know of unless you leave the country.:scrutiny:

Did you get the .380 from the "extreme Fiochhi" ammo I notice that hey have different types of Fiochhi ammo in which case this one is hotter.

Just curious how is life up in the northern part of Washington by the Vancouver border in a small town called "Custer" Do they have a high crime rate? I know it's pretty rural and that area income isn't the highest but it is rural which makes it attractive.

People who buy ammo from walmart to sell

I'm convinced that the reason for the ammo shortage in walmarts is because so many people are buying it only to sell it at higher prices at guns shows. I can rarely find pistol ammo in my local walmart. I have to travel hundreds of miles to find pistol ammo at walmart. I noticed local gun shops have much higher prices on ammo so I don't buy from them.
What do you guys think about people who are buying all the walmart ammo just so they can jack up the price and sell it later? I think that is a pretty shady way to make money. People like me who like to shoot have to search for ammo all over the state or we have to pay jacked up prices.

I don't know, I'm a big fan of capitalism, even in it's "unfair" forms. To solve the problem you could open up your very own ammunition manufacturing business and sell the products you make at cost directly to the consumer.

Just a thought.

Everyone makes money from demand, in one way or another. Wal-Mart makes their money from the demand by virtue of the fact that they can supply. Thescalpers then do the same at a mark up. It's the same model as before but with one more middle-man.

My advice is to try and find an inside track yourself so you can get what you need when you need it. Maybe make friends with a couple of the gun counter guys at WM and see if they can tip you off to their delivery schedules.

Just another thought.

I pray to God I never get so desperate that I drive to wally world, clean em out, buy a 60 dollar table at gunshow, load all that crap up, get there early, set up etc.. just to make a few more bucks by gouging fellow shooters.

There's a few gun shops that do that here. I refuse to do business with them since they did that with JHP ammo as well. Some people need affordable hollowpoints for self-defense, and to jack the prices up on them as high as these stores do is nothing short of greed.

I don't care.....$40 for a box of cheapo 9mm JHPs is ridiculous....especially when they got it fom Wal-Mart for about $16/box.

I don't think this is going on much anymore. It was rampant 6 months ago and I think it stinks. Ammo is more available now, plus WalMart enacted a 6 box limit.
Really the only ammo I have not seen plenty of at WalMart is .38, .357 and .380. Plenty of 9mm, .40, .45 and .22. That wasn't the case a few months ago.

I used to work at Oak Tree Gun Club in Santa Clarita, Ca... They did this!... I saw it first hand several SEVERAL times and it made me sick. buying an $8 box of Blazer Brass 9mm and selling it for $16 for use ONLY with their Rental guns.

Down right disgusting if you ask me.
