Local Walmart had .22s and shot shells today, plenty of both.

.22s were Fed 40 gr. solid “Auto Match”? for $18.57 / box of 325. Not bad. Also some Winchester in old style 300 rd cartons, $39.97 ea - no thanks. Guy at counter expects it to be all gone today or tomorrow.

12 & 20 ga field loads at what I’d call normal prices, around $22/100.

Academy has more on the shelves than I’ve seen in a couple years, prices ran from kind of high to very high, 2x to 3x what I recall BC. Rem 9mm $18/box was about the best I saw, Estate 12 00 buck was $30 / 25 rd box! Hunting rifle ammo still scarce and pricey. Win .308 ball all over the place at $1.10 per shot.

Cause for hope I hope.

I'm seeing alot more hunting ammo hitting the shelves. It's expensive but its good to see it start to show up.

The new pricing hasn't hit that store yet. It hit mine recently. Automatch is now $22 per 325 rd box. Federal field loads are now $30 per 4 pack.

More 223. ammunition is just sitting on the shelves where I am at. Other hunting ammo is trickling in....very slowly.

Though much to my surprise, I found 9mm and 380 acp at my local Bi-Mart. 9mm has been available off and on, but this is the first 380 I have seen since pre covid!

12 gauge is available, but can someone tell me why there is just so much 16 gauge shotgun ammo? I mean, I haven't even seen a brand new shotgun in that caliber, just old side-by-sides and the occasional odd ball shotgun on Gunbroker.

I'll have to check my walmart on monday after I drop my daughter off at school. I stopped in a few weeks ago and ran into the woman stocking shelves in the hunting dept. She said she hadn't gotten any shotgun shells at all all summer but that .22's were coming in consistently. Hopefully shotshells are in now, that's the only thing I'm dangerously low on.

Heading to the Council Bluffs gun show tonight with a buddy who just got out of the marines. Hes wanting to get a sig p320. Ill be looking for 223/556. Ill probably buy a few boxes if I can find some for under $10.
For some odd reason all the gun stores near me have like 2 or 3 boxes of range 223 on the shelves and it ain't cheap.
I'm also going to look for some 16 gauge for pheasant season coming up. I'm sure it will be close to a buck a shot at the show.

The Fed Auto-match has a lot of squibs, at least here in this region. Price is over 20 bucks at our Walmart-can't remember exactly. I loaded 5 mags with 8 rounds each for yesterday's steel challenge and had 4 squibs, and 2 misfires. Looks like they're rushing to get us more ammo a bit too much.
Our Walmart also has (once-in-a-while) Federal .308 150 gr Power-Shock, which my AR-10 absolutely loves, for $20.74 a box, (up from $17.84 just a month or so ago.) Sitting on about 8 boxes of that. Always seem to get the last 2 on the shelf. Why I can't seem to get there in time to get the limit of 3, I don't know, but generally our shelves are bare.

Central Texas Academy this morning. Lots of ammo too but I was looking for primers. At least we’re getting components and ammo to work with and it’s not selling out instantly so maybe prices will come down.

My area W-marts haven't gotten a round of anything for ages. Thank my lucky stars that other than a few odd-ball calibers I really never need to buy any ammo again.

Ammo is a commodity just like lumber. One example of the latter is one sheet of 4x8 OSB hit $80+ 3 weeks ago. Yesterday it was down to $16 and flying OTD. We may see a limited return of ammo prices to before the ongoing pre bidet disaster. The issues will be a resurgence of hoarding and buying for profit as confidence in our nation declines. Other factors may include possible impacts resulting from a surplus of some brands and calibers due to previous hoarding. My friends in eastern Europe say the Russians trying are beat the ban. Lastly I wonder how much ammo on all those ships sitting off the coast? Gonna be a bumpty ride.

It seems like stuff from Turkey or eastern European countries would be Atlantic side like New Jersey but really have no idea. Russia and Ukraine main ports are technically in the Artic ocean. Does anyone happen to know which ports foreign ammunition normally goes to?

That estate buckshot is stout. It patterned will for me though.

Russia has several Black Sea ports and Ukraine’s Odessa is also on the Black Sea. Ukraine is surprisingly far South (below Belarus), and Belarus and Poland lie between it and the Baltic Sea.

Tula isn’t far from the Black Sea (as Russian distances go!) so Ukrainian and Russian ships sending ammo to the US would most likely sail through the Bosporus (Turkey) and into the Med (Much less ice this way :)) before crossing the Atlantic.

From there, the US East coast is much closer to them than the West coast is, but if the shipment is large enough a run through the Panama Canal and North to Long Beach could be made.

Stay safe.

My local Walmart has 100 rnd box of federal target loads (the 1200 fps stuff) 12 gauge for $30. Somewhat normal in my area.

My local Wal Marts get ammo in fairly regularly. Never know what caliber it will be, but if it's something I shoot, I grab a couple boxes when I see it.

Local gun shops and sporting good stores still have high pricing on ammo vs online so I pass on it

Natchez seems to have several brands of 9mm, .223 and a bunch of others in stock and on sale. I wouldn't call their sale prices great ($20 for a box of 50 9mm) but it's in stock and it's much better than gunbroker prices.
Just wish they did not charge tax & shipping lol

Need to find more sites that don't charge tax.

Castle Arms has decent ammo prices, but then they want $$$$ for shipping. Same with a few other sites

Riomouse911: Quite true about the Black Sea.

Most viewers might not realize that the year-round, ice-free conditions in the Black Sea seem to be the main reason Russia invaded and annexed the Crimea (in Ukraine).
As long as nobody ever blocks the Bosporus by Istanbul Turkey——-

As always, any corrections are welcome. We are like crewmembers here, no?
