I run into things like this all the time and as I see it, it's not really a choice at all. 20210918_154149.jpg

You don't like the idea of paying the same for Serbian PPU as you would fine Swedish Norma? ;) Nothing against PPU, but I think that first digit should be a 1 rather than a 2.

Ill bet the Norma wasn't that much cheaper before this current crisis.

I'd also bet the PPU was.

I was buying ppu 308 168 match for 14 or so a box for Pv previously. Somehow they think they match norma. Not in my mind at least.

I've been looking for 270 and 6.5 Creedmoor for something close to reasonable prices since purchasing the rifles and have given up and have ordered the dies and brass but now the bullet choices are not good, I guess that is the downside to purchasing clearance rifles at Walmart. Locally the Academy has had 308 and 350 Legend for close to reasonable, 223 and 7.62x39 for less than gouging prices on their truck days but prices are still 40% or more higher than before

For deer or similar game, I'd flip a coin honestly. I could be mistaken, but I believe that Norma is loaded by a third party or at a Norma facility stateside. Perhaps someone can confirm. PPU is surprisingly good quality ammunition in general, and their brass is very good. You're getting a basic cup and core soft point with either. Yes, the PPU should be priced lower, but there should be multiple competing options on the shelf also, but rather we find ourselves in this alternate reality where that is the choice and price point you are faced with.

Ppu ammo is 2 moa at best and the brass is not even close to the same quality. If your shooting a gas gun it may be a toss up but not even close in a bolt.

BS on the brass quality. Note the circled number of loadings on the label. I've never come close to that with Ruag Norma.. With any factory ammo, even Sierra match, results will vary. I would expect equal performance as an average across multiple rifles with these 2 loads.

I am really lucky to have an ammo wholesaler on the way home from work. The last time the panic buying ended and prices tanked I would stop by every Friday and grab what was on sale. I am stacked deep for several years.

I have also been reloading for most of my life so I have tons of components as well. I try to buy ammo with good brass to help build up a supply as I shoot through my stash.

Prices like this make me happy I spent a bit extra and built up a good supply.

Aside: at the local Sportsmans Warehouse this week, the only handgun ammo they had in any quantity was FN 5.7 and .22 Remington Jet!

Buy the PPU... that way, after you fire it, you'll send the brass to me. ;)

I would tend to agree, however... I don't consider PPU bullets to be that consistent in quality, those that bought the 'Match' 168grn BTHP Prvi found that out pretty quickly, but I'll bet those two ammos would be pretty equal at reasonable hunting distances.

Yup, try buying federal premium loaded with nosler partition or an equivalent round for elk. Heck, try to even find it…

I've been waiting for that blue box PPU to go back to $14/20 rd box. Target sports used to have it all the time for $280/1K shipped or $14/20 for 7mm-08 and .308

I bought a bunch of PPU components, including a bunch of 168gr "match" bullets.

They are very inconsistent for "match" bullets. Between a few rifles I could only squeeze about 2moa at best of of them.

The brass is also pretty inconsistent. All their components have been regulated to "plinking grade only" for me. If I come across a rifle in an obscure cartridge that only PPU makes ammo/components for, I can deal with it but prefer to avoid them if possible
