Have a nice shot of your classy Garand or a moving photo of your custom 1911? Post them here!

I'll start off with one of moi with my Colt AR-15 Sporter II at sunset. The sidearm is an HK USP Tactical.

I'll post some more assuming the thread gets some responses. :)

Fantastic pic Chris !! , I saw it the first time you posted it but this time I remembered to save it, what a wonderful set of circumstances came together to create that .

Also the perfect evidence against those folks who say that the "port" blast will blind you in a night shoot.


Matt also a very nice pic, maybe a nice caption would just be "Freedom".

Hi Ray! :) Hey - I have a hi-res on that which I gave a link for in the original post last year. if anyone wants a bigger file (I have used this one as a desktop) .... for now at least you can grab it HERE - it's about 330k and 1494 x 1059.


mattx109 .... the pic method? .. well, I'll be up front honest. I consider there was a lot of luck involved .... I mean, when I came to look at it later on puter I was amazed! It was IIRC last November, when my son and I had a bit of a great range session. Light was fading and, as an experiment we tried some camera work.

I took one or two of my SRH shooting some .44 mag (see pic below) .... not very good ''flame'' .... IIRC that was H110 shoving a 300 grain XTP. Then, we messed with settings and finalized on a 1 sec exposure - that camera was my KodakDX6340 and not very much good re manual over ride settings. I got set up and when he was ready to open shutter, he called it, and I fired. Tried maybe two or three that way and this one just ''worked''! :)

What staggered me was - all that exposure and yet, apparently no motion blur? Almost a fluke I think and so far have not had a chance to try again, which I will one of these days.!! Could hardly feel like taking much credit for what just turned out to be a real winner.

The ammo BTW - another factor perhaps ..... Winchester 250 grain JHP ..... a very ''whimpy'' load when compared with my fave - which is Hornady 300 grain XTP. The Winchester round has almost exactly half the power of the Hornady ... approx 900 ft lbs compared with approx 1800!! No idea what powder tho I expect a Win type ball powder - 296 maybe?

The fact that you had no motion blur is interesting. Maybe the shot went off just before the shutter closed? Or maybe you have the steadiest grip of all time? Who knows?

Either way, very nice picture.

It's not nearly as cool, but here's a little experiment I tried a while ago. I want to set up a better shot like this sometime with some more powerful optics (and better alignment with the crosshair).

Scope pics are quite difficult ... good effort. Thinks - I must mess with that myself sometime.

Just remembered another pic I posted some time back .. guess it's also sorta ''artsy''! A squint down the barrel of my SRH 44 mag!

Was the USP picture photoshopped?

The hammer is back, which makes me think that either the slide already cycled (is that possible while avoiding blur?) or the hammer never dropped.

Sweet image either way. :)

Matt - I was wondering a bit .... and feel pretty sure the more I study it - it had to have been ''enhanced''. Still very cool pic tho ...... almost something done for an ad' perhaps.

On the USP pic the hammer is back because I used first curtain flash. The shooter fired *after* the off camera flash went off. The muzzle blast color was enhanced a bit in PS.

Here is another one with the same technique using my SW640.
