An explanation about my video posting decision

I don't have a horse in this race, and I'm new here, but want a rule of thumb? (For a typical forum, not reddit which kind of has its own culture.) If you're *just* posting links you're a spammer. If you're contributing and *also* post links you're good. And if you have some way of checking clicks and people are clicking through, they think it's useful or they'd just be avoiding you. If they're not clicking through there's no point in posting them anyway. :)

I did a search on your prior posts and the videos look occasional. And some of them like the flintlock kit unboxing you've got 15 responses. People wouldn't respond if they didn't think it was interesting.

So I'd say don't sweat posting videos on any normal forum where you already contribute (i.e. you didn't just sign up to post videos). On rare forums that get very hyper about anybody posting their own content, don't. Perhaps anybody who's both on here and reddit will post your videos over there now that they know what the issue is. Perhaps a couple of people can informally rotate so it won't look like a shill or something. If that makes them happy, so be it.

Good points. Just one thought: somehow I don't see anyone who spends any significant time on this board taking the time to do something to make the folks at reddit happy. Just ain't gonna happen.

I've subscribed to your YouTube channel, so I can get updates there; done that with a couple of other pages that cover topics of interest to me. The problem is that I find myself beginning my 'internet sessions' by checking in at THR, or the Classic Cougar Community Forums, maybe even facebook (didn't know you were on FB); and by the time I've finished on those pages, it's time for me to go to work, go feed the horses and clean stalls, maybe it's just time for me go to bed!

So please, keep posting here when you put up another vid. The great majority of the time, it's the only way I'm going to find out you've done so.

I like your videos!!! We need more quality Black Powder and old timey gun programming.

Reddick ratings? Don't let them bother you. Everyone on the internet shoots better than Carlos Hathcock and have more knowledge of firearms than Jeff Cooper or Elmer Keith. C'mon. Ignore those comments.

Just remember those of us who enjoy your videos don't necessarily post comments.

Mike, I had an inkling of this when I posted in your other thread, though I didn't consider that Reddit (like...seriously? :scrutiny:) was at the root of the trouble.

We appreciate what you do and we'd much prefer to see original material than things someone quotes from someone else.

Like I said, the 'net is still a raw, juvenile, unsettled place. We're all still trying to figure out the etiquette and even the legalities of these issues as they apply to a world that's digitally connected. Best not to take a little negative criticism from under a rock in one stilted corner of the grid too awful seriously.

Mike. Please keep the videos coming! Who will destroy all those "Zombie 2-liter soda pop bottles?" They will over-run the earth. Think about the children!!!!! My 10 year old son anticipates every installment. :)

I have learned alot form your videos, about Black Powder firearms and video production as well. Its YOU, its informative and its fun, now get back to work! Thanks!

there ya go.

Hey Mike, as a redditor I'm sorry they are being jerks over there. The gunnit people are trying to rein in 50,000 users and they get over-zealous. And it can be very immature.

Keep posting your videos here though. I love to watch them!

I only read down through about half the first page of posts. But as far as Reddit goes it sure sounds like the old adage from Groucho Marx "I DON'T WANT TO BELONG TO ANY CLUB THAT WILL ACCEPT PEOPLE LIKE ME AS A MEMBER".

I have to agree that it sure sounds like a clique'y bunch of mamaby pamby's that feel that the quality of modern life is based on their internet persona.

Mike, ditch that bunch and come over to the dark side and stick with us. We have cookies.... :D

duelist1954...I have enjoyed watching your videos and would like to see more posted, the guns that you demonstrate interest me and to see them in actual use is very entertaining. If you were trying to self-promote I think your post count would be well over what it is.
Keep up the good work.

Exactly, I love watching your videos because I get to see some oddball guns which I don't and likely won't own any time soon. As well it's nice to see you shooting stuff which I do have just to see if I can learn something new about that particular gun.

I like all your videos Mike, especially the shooting/testing videos, great info ! I just know that alot of people feel the same way, and never even read or heard that your videos were self promoting or anything. There are alot of decent and positive people on here, and that's why I like it here :D -ron-

I like your videos,
I subscribed to your YouTube thingy.

I don't know anything with about Reddit.

I hope you keep making videos, I like 'em.

However, I wouldn't really worry about what others say or think. If you are gonna make the videos you should be doing it because you like making them.

Hope that makes sense.

Mike, I think the popular vote count is pretty clear. The people that understand and appreciate your work want access to your work right here on THR. Being threatened with missing out I've subscribed to your Youtube channel but I don't know how to use it......yet.
Any help along this line would be appreciated.

Reddit can suck eggs.
I don't give a rat's *** what those putzes think about your videos. They are top-drawer and as entertaining as a good (albeit short) western!
Keep on truckin', Mike!
We love what you're doing!

I think it would be nice if Mike and others got these kinda responses over at the tube like they do here.

We seriously need to show our support there to help offset immaturity we constantly see there on gun related channels.

But I must admit I like seeing them here too simply because people here can discuss them, ask questions, and comment with out the immaturity we see there.

Subscribe, rate, and share. If we don't make our stand on the tube we're not going to be allowed to post gun content there much longer. Think about who owns youtube and what they do to purposely downgrade anything they deem unacceptable to their oblivious hatred of the American Spirit.

Thanks as always for sharing Mike, it means a lot to me and many others.

Majes, I deliberately don't respond to the tube vids because I refuse to wage a battle of wits with an unarmed man.
Some of the questions and comments are so immature and retarded they don't even warrant an acknowledgement, much lest a response.

Never heard of this reddik site till now and sounds like I wouldn't like it any way Mike. I very much look forward to your videos. Your very much a gentleman and a scholar in mine eye's. Proud to know you.
