Angry tourists break mugger's neck

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica (Reuters) - A group of U.S. tourists, including a former Marine, killed a Costa Rican mugger by breaking his neck after he pulled a gun on them in a Caribbean port, a local police official said on Thursday.

The cruise ship passengers told police they jumped on Wagner Segura, 20, to defend themselves when he pointed a .38 caliber revolver at them near the Caribbean port of Limon on Wednesday, and somehow snapped his neck, regional police director Luis Hernandez said.

Segura died instantly and two other unidentified thieves, one of whom was armed with a knife, fled the scene, Hernandez said.

"One of the tourists was a former Marine and he was probably the one who broke (Segura's) neck," Hernandez said. "His neck was completely snapped."

No charges will be filed against the tourists because police viewed the incident as an act of self-defense. Police questioned and released the group, which rejoined the cruise and left Cost Rica.

The Americans were passengers aboard the Carnival cruise ship Legend. They got off their tour bus to take photos in a notoriously rough neighborhood a short drive from Limon.

After the attack, they put Segura's body on their bus and found a police officer in Limon to report the incident.

Oh No! Now the Dems will want to pass a resolution that ex-Marines are deadly weapons and need to be banned...:D

Not just ex-marines, we must ban the entire United States Marine Corps to make sure no more of these deadly individuals can be produced!

Lets do it for the children!!!

I bet the rest of the trip was a little anti-climactic after killing an armed mugger with your bare hands! Oorah!

Is that the bare-hands equivalent of the "it just went off" we hear in gun stories? :D

Day 6:
We disembarked the ship today in the Carribean to do some shopping. I got some new flip flops, had a bite to eat, broke some mugger's neck, and took beautiful pictures of the sunset.

As someone who has experienced a fractured C-spine (neck), I gotta tell ya, this will REALLY ruin your day. :D
Usually not a good idea to go hand-to-hand with a Marine.

It's just an "Occupational Hazard" of preying on innocent people. One day, that old guy you are trying to rob is gonna turn out to be an old, crusty, butt-kicker from way back when.... and is gonna rectify your sorry butt...

Cheers to old Vets who never forgot what it means to fight.

No no no!!!! don't you understand. the person is not the problem. it's the weapon. He used his hands. We need to ban hands. I think that hands need to be registered, licensed, and locked up. Everybody should have to punch a block of clay so that we have a "ballistic fistprint" of each registered hand that is just out there in the public.
When, oh when will the violence stop?
