Just how dangerous are the animal rights people? Read these two articles and you ...well, you won't believe this!

http://www.jsonline.com/news/state/may01/peta25052401a.asp

"A letter from PETA was sent Thursday to expo officials asking for the cancellation of the event, scheduled for October in Madison. PETA hopes the disease that has crippled much of the livestock industry in Britain comes to North America because animals would be spared a trip to the slaughterhouse, wrote Bruce Friedrich, the group's vegan campaign coordinator.

That raised the question of whether PETA is encouraging agroterrorism and suggesting its members should intentionally bring the highly-contagious animal disease to the United States."

And from another group, not PETA:

"A group in Sweden calling itself the Animals' Liberation Front says it has poisoned meat in nine Stockholm supermarkets as part of a protest over meat-eating at Christmas.

The TT news agency says police are taking the threat seriously, despite no poisoned meat being found in any of the city's stores.

The agency says the claim has been made in an anonymous letter left at its offices along with a package of lamb.

TT says it has also received an anonymous telephone call claiming the action.

A similar threat was issued in November against a supermarket in the city of Uppsala to the north of Stockholm, but no poisoned meat was found on that occasion."

Some (many) of these people amaze me ...... they will put human lives at risk ... even go so far as things that actually kill people ........ and all the while sanctimoniously pretending they are saving the animal kingdom. Many of their actions are akin to genuine terrorism .. and they should be dealt with accordingly.

As for the BSE thing ........ OMG ... ''spared a trip to the slaughterhouse'' ...... are they really serious? I am dumbfounded with crap like this.

HBK ... caliber??? ............. 44 mag - and up!! :p

Spared a trip to the slaughterhouse huh? Weird people. I totally sympathise with anyone in the agri business over there with this BSE scare, it ruined members of my family, and several of their friends committed suicide.

PETA better hope you lot don't get 'foot and mouth', the nationwide cull carried out over here with the huge funeral pyres and the mass graves with tens of thousands of animals would send them nuts. And finish several small farmers.

btw when they say 'highly contagious disease', are they referring to BSE?

because animals would be spared a trip to the slaughterhouse ...
Yeah, it will spare them a trip to the slaughterhouse and win them a trip to a date with a bulldozer and a large pit in the ground surrounded by men with rifles.

If I'm not mistaken, those peta idiots actually hoped that we would get these diseases here in the US. Bunch of morons... :fire: peta, alf, elf, they are all terrorist organizations and should be dealt with accordingly.

HOW?

How is it less humane to kill a beef steer at a slaughterhouse than to have a highly contagious disease run rampant across the country? Have these nuts not seen the horrors the livestock go through when effected with this disease? Are they willing to see millions of lovely brown eyed cows go through that just so they can say you should eat nuts and berries? What horrifically evil people!!! This amazes me.

Extremism is not logical. You cannot use reason, logic, and common sense when dealing with a fanatic. This is the same type of person who kills children to promote a religious belief. Any person who would poison food to make a political statement should be fed to a hungry bunch of hogs.
My$0.02 worth.

It's not about left v. right, liberal v. conservative, it's about liberty v. control. The most basic human desire is NOT sex, but censorship of others' thoughts and actions.

Reminds me how a little while ago near my home, some "animal rights" "activists" raided a mink-farm, and released hundreds of mink.

Where upon these hundreds of mink (= voracious alien predators with no natural enemies) started rampaging through the countryside, decimating (or worse) a lot of vulnerable ecosystems.

That raised the question of whether PETA is encouraging agroterrorism
Where have you been for the past 30 years, friend? IIRC the crackpots have been encouragaing terrorism for years. In the late 60's there was a widespread effort to enlist too-rich-and-bored-for-their-own-good college students to spike trees, destroy mink farms, blow dams and lots of other mischief.

What's the proper cailber for animal rights extremists?
Shooting's too good for them.

Some of our folks need to wake up. Many of these PETA types consider killing people to be a noble cause. They consider the human race the worst thing that has ever happened to "Mother Earth", and intend to eliminate it.

Some of them don't go that far - they only want to eliminate those that eat meat.

Terrorism? Yes, full blown. Religious terrorism as bad as the extremist Muslims. They just haven't gotten as much attention.

Yet.

Don't forget the two bombings in the SF bay area either.. Setting bombs outside companies who use animals for testing.

PETA / ALF bothers me more than UBL ever will.

They consider the human race the worst thing that has ever happened to "Mother Earth", and intend to eliminate it.
Maybe if they go first -- you know, to set a good example and all that -- the rest of us would blindly follow. Then the Lion could lie down with the Lamb in peace and harmony and all would be right with the world.

I suspect that will not be enough... These people will not quit until they have converted all the carnivorous animals into plant eaters.

I actually saw a "meat is murder" bumper sticker along side a "pro choice" sticker on the same car. Sucking the brain out of a viable human fetus is ok, but eating a non-viable chicken egg is not?

For the record, I tend to be pro choice. I don't really like the idea of abortion, but the Gov't has no business making the choice for people.
