This is such a cool project....
Im certainly enjoying it! Were also finally (over a year later) getting onto the shooting and testing stage.. hopefully everything works the way its supposed to lol.

You should save that foam cut out and paint it pink, I think del would love it lol.

My son already broke it while running around in the yard, he was a very upset lol.

Lol sound like he is about ready for a kids 22 or air gun.
He sits on the porch and shoots air gun with me, are well specifically he likes to put the pellet in and yell "GO!"

@LoonWulf this has turned into a fun project. Thanks for bringing us along with you.
Not such a bad idea after all :D

Safe shooting! Can't wait to see what you think of the 458.
Thank you all for coming along for the ride lol!

Since were actually getting into the true shooting/testing portion of this build I think I'll probably start a new thread.

They grind much better then they used to, they would be a gumy mess on the old ones. I wonder if they fixed the melting problem to, the one on my Siamese mauser is like half melted. I'll probably grab a new one soon for it since I may actually shoot it some this year lol, or just get a pachmayr.

Freeze em, and use 80-60 grit paper, also grind base to pad not the other way. thats how I deal with grinding squishy pads anyway.....

This limbsaver actually ground alot easier and cleaner than id expected, the old ones would sometimes chunk out on me, and I eventually started only installing pachys for other people because of that.
The Kickeeze on my .375 i remember being a pain. Im gonna have to replace it soon also its got a few chunks missing.

My dad used to wet them and that seemed to work. I'm interested if you load some hot rounds in the 458 you will see the problem I've had. It seems sometimes they really can be to soft. Mine with stupid hot loads of would compress so much i can feel the plastic and hurts a bit.

side note on pads, I handled that Mark v again the day I got the mags. They use a fancy honeycomb pad, from sitting on the rack the top I it was compressed and bouldged out. And it seemed hard there and was not springing back. I was wrong on the price to 2400 not bad for that type of rifle, very light gun.

I finish them with oil on the belt....goo off actually lol....still have the same bottle from years ago.

2400 seems like alot of cash, but those are sweet rifles......wby would probably send you a new pad.....but then again, thats alot of moneh for a pre-jacked up gun lol.

Nice!
I was trying to get out and do some shooting today since the family wanted to go cruising up the mountain.....Didnt finish loading stuff tho, so didn't take the American. Wouldnt have mattered anyway, we had a sleet storm and I wouldn't have fired a shot anyway lol.

Rasped the cheek piece off of the sporter stock today, didn't do a fantastic job but it cleaned up all right.
Made another 20 rounds for the 458 also So now I've got rounds for everything besides the 270 weatherby.
I also got a slightly higher rail in since the factory one was low enough that the 42 mm Burris would hit the oversized 270 weatherby barrel.

I'll keep a eye out for 270 wby brass if your needing some, it's common to find the wby brass in the ammo boxes to reload around here.
I could use more. I think ive got less than 100 atm lol.
Some of them are 7mm wby to be resized also.

I need ro sit down and finish loading so i can take the gun out.....just kinda over loading right now, made 3-400 larger rifle rounds in the last week or so.
