Forgive for for being such a dunce. I can tell you at least something about just about any gun on the planet, except the 1911!!!

What does the barrel bushing wrench do????
How is it used??

I'm picking up my new baby Friday and I need to know!! I suppose I will have to pick one of these up along with some spare mags and ammo!!

The barrel bushing must be rotated to take down a 1911. They can be pretty stiff. In that case you need a bushing wrench to turn the bushing. That's all there is to it. Watch-Six
 
On a standard 1911A1, you don't need a tool, man. You simply push the spring plug in from the muzzle end, and manually rotate the barrel bushing clockwise, I think. It rotates enough so you can let the spring plug come out the front of the pistol, then yank the spring. Then rotate the bushing the other way, and the key or tab on it is free and you pull the bushing.

I have never needed a wrench for the bushing. You might need a wrench for the full length guide rod, tho, which must be removed first when stripping the pistol.

Refer to the owner's manual when you get it.

I always just use a magazine to push the spring plug down enough to rotate the bushing... works for me!
 
On a std 1911 type the wrench is only used for one with a tight bushing, usually national match.
 
Yeah, that pretty much says it all. A bushing wrench makes it easier to turn a tight bushing. It also makes taking apart a 1911 with a full-length guide rod easier, though it isn't strictly necessary. Mainly, it just saves you a sore thumb.

To use it, you just line up the bushing with the hole in the wrench, push down over the bushing hard enough so the recoil plug isn't blocking the rotation of the bushing, and twist. Be careful not to launch the recoil plug across the room. :D
 
call the manufacturer. theyll send you one ASAP, probably free (liability issues). also, check their website. might just be available for download.

1. (Easy) When was the 1911 invented?
2. (Head scratcher) When was the bushing wrench invented?

Why don't you write in to Mail Call and complain to Gunny Ermey about your sore thumbs? :neener:
