Reason for no HK... The price including mags and aftermarket. But they've been considered and probably will be again one day.

Reason for no SA XD... I had an XDm 9mm and didn't love it. I love my XD45.

Reason for no SIG P-series... Good question, I should. I've always liked them. Pricey, but not too crazy for an all metal hammer gun.

Ive got 4.........all German, all stamped slide, all awesome!

But, and I've thought about it many times, if I had to grab just one, it would be my M92 over the P-series guns. The grip is a bit slimmer than the P226 and good mags are cheaper and more common, plus the trigger is better on my US built 92FS.

Still, its like choosing between a BMW and an Alpha Romeo (if they made a reliable Alpha, lol). The German guns are solid, purposeful, reliable, but they don't have the smooth, sexy appeal of the Italian.

Never had a real CZ, but I did have a Witness .45 and it was one of, if not THE, most accurate handgun Ive ever owned. It got stolen, otherwise I never would have parted with it.

M92, P226, CZ75- can't go wrong with any of these, they represent some of the pinnacles of handgun design. I'd highly recommend owning all 3, but if just one, get the one that speaks to your soul......

What stands out to me, in your list, is the ability of the P320 and the M&P series to offer compact, full-size, and extended (competition) - size frame and slide combinations, with the same grip, trigger, controls, and magazines. I have experience with the M&P, but not the Sig. But, for these reasons, I would be looking at these 2. (Maybe other options in your list offer the same, but I am not aware).

This has got to be one of the worst polls ever! Obviously a very clueless person. Caution: Who tells you the people voting here have any idea what they are doing? It's like asking which brand of car should I concentrate on?

Wow! Not only are you being rude but that is just plain mean.

I didn't vote as The Lady and I prefer different guns.

The Lady likes the S&W M&P 1.0 with the APEX Duty Trigger kit. I gave her a Crimson Trace "lasor" sight for it for her birthday which she really likes. I have a spare one for her for backup (2 is 1).

My choice is the Beretta 92. Battle proven design used worldwide. I have a spare (again 2 is 1) and a lot of extra magazines as magazines are very easy to find at affordable prices..

Sadly, Glock is the easy answer, but I haven't found one I like the grip on yet. Maybe by Gen 12.

Same here...reliable and durable guns to be sure; just not a good fit for me.

For a 9mm. consolidation program I would go with the CZ family. The majority of their models have great ergonomics, reliable performance, and more than accurate enough for the job at hand. My favorite CZ is the P01; very much reminds me of a slightly smaller version of my all-time favorite 9mm.: the Browning Hi-Power.

The runner-up to the CZ family would be the SIG family. Have had quite a bit of trigger time with the P226, the P228, and the P229. All have exhibited the same features as the CZs; namely ergonomic designs, reliable functioning, and fundamental accuracy.

I voted for the CZ, but then again, I am not much of a striker-fired fan. The only striker-fired pistol I own is the HK VP9, which is pretty amazing gun for a striker-fired variant.

My favorite 9mm gun is my SIG P226 Legion SAO which is just so amazing on so many levels, but since that wasn't a choice, and I didn't want to just vote wildcat since it sort of dilutes the poll.

I will admit to being a hammer-fired SAO kind of guy, so I am sort of biased, but if you are going to go hammer-fired DA/SA, the CZ has one of the best DA pulls I have ever seen bar none.

My dislike for striker-fired guns has nothing to do with the striker construction or design, but the plastic construction that turns me off. I am sure there are some more solid designed striker-fired guns, but I am not familiar with any.

Never had a real CZ...

Awww naawww son! You, of all people don't have a real CZ 75-based gun? You really need to correct that. :D ;)

Seriously, here's a rare gun in the best 75-based model (unless you need a rail, or are willing to spend into the Shadow or higher-end versions) that just ended last night without a buyer. I say rare because there were relatively few of the stainless 85 Combats made. It'd go perfectly with your stainless 92. Go contact the seller and buy it. :) https://www.gunbroker.com/item/776517485

They had one at my LGS recently..... for $1000!

Someday, I'll give a cosmetically challenged 75B a good home. Wouldn't mind grabbing another Witness, either- a very underrated pistol.

If I had seen that one there, I couldn't have gotten my wallet out fast enough! Those red grips would have to go, though.......:)

[enabler] The seller has other auctions running. You can send a message to the seller via one of those other items and ask if he'll take the starting bid price for the 85 Combat. It's an earlier year model -- can't tell what year, but it was back when they put the proof on the pad just behind the ejection port. I have a 2006 model 75 B marked that way but don't know how many more years they continued marking in that location. [/enabler]

I'm getting ready to snipe another GB auction, but if it doesn't pan out, I might!

I see the HK VP9 for around $550. True the mags are spendy but the 2 it comes with outta hold you over for awhile.

As for the Sig P-320 I see them for $499. Not pricey at all. I love mine. Not as much as my BHP but there's a big price difference there.

Ok, I'll stop trying to sell you on those 3 now ;)

How do you snipe GB? I thought they continued the auction until everyone stopped bidding. By snipe I mean make a first, surprise bid so late that no one has time to react to it and overbid you. That can’t happen on GB...can it?

What’s wrong wth Ruger? Plenty of choices in both gun size and caliber. American quality. Well priced. Different firing systems. Auto and wheelies.

This is my first time using GB, but the auction ends in two days with no bidders yet. You do have to bid at least the sellers opening amount though. I'm going to bid just before the auction ends, see what happens.

My first choice would be the CZ 75B, followed closely by one of the Walthers, preferably the P99 AS.

I am not a striker fired gun type of person. If you have never tried a CZ you might just be missing something. Try a CZ and walk away from it if you don't like it.

You really need to try out the various options but my opinion from the choices would be the M&P 2.0. For all around guns I prefer poly frame guns for weight savings and size options. I assume you are going to be doing CCW too and M&P 2.0 line offers many good options. I have a CZ SP01 and like it but mostly for range use. The small grip area on the slide of the CZs would rule them out for me for CCW or SD uses. I love my Walther PPQ but there are not that many options in the PPQ line for me to consider as my only platform and they do not have the third party support like M&P does.

Smith and Wesson is currently running a $50 rebate on most of the M&P line of pistols.

I really like the CZ75 for what you state you would use it for. In my opinion the best target/range 9mm is a 1911 or a CZ75. If you said you were going to carry it I would recommend the M&P. I have no opinion on the Wather or Sig. I strongly dislike the beretta 92. They are humongous and I don't like the controls. I couldn't shoot mine worth a darn either.

My favorite 9mm pistols:

CZ75 types

Beretta 92 types

1911 types

I have real/imitation versions of all three in 9mm and 40 caliber. In fact, I have the CZ and 1911 in 45acp as well. Apparently they don't make the Beretta in that caliber, or I would get one.

Some especially good buys:

Milsurp Beretta 92S: Basically a regular Beretta 92 with a "heel" magazine release. They are Italian surplus and can be found for not too much money. My FiL got a good one.

EAA Witness 9mm made by Tanfoglio: The older ones are called Tanfoglio TA90's. Tanfoglio makes very nice CZ clones/copies. I own a number of them. The going rate for used polymer versions is low. I got slightly used ones in 40 caliber and 45acp for $250 apiece. Milsurp TA90's from Israeli service come up fairly often for not much money. Mine has a fantastic trigger.

Star Super B: Spanish milsurp pistol that looks and feel like a 1911 without the grip safety. It actually has a BHP style locking system. They were available for as little as $200 a couple of years back. They are high-quality steel pistols, used by Spain and various other countries.

I voted CZ75 and derivatives, as they are solid, accurate handguns with many options available. You might also consider the Browning HP and FN family. FN can get you into a rabbit hole of one-offs with limited parts and customization options available, but IMHO, the HP and my new FNS9 are the most natural shooting and accurate semi-autos I have ever fielded. The FNS has a grip attachment that mimics the graceful curve of the Hi Power and Witness, really feels good in the hand.

My vote goes to the CZ 75 platform.

I own other pistols, including the Beretta 92 that you are also considering, as well as the BHP, Sig P226 and 1911 that you didn't list but others suggest. Also own some others again.

The CZ remains my first choice, and last one I'd give up.

Unlike ebay, GB resets to 15 minutes (I believe that's the time), even if there's only a second or 2 left. It kinda eliminates the 'sniping' aspect that you see on ebay, where people wait and snatch something at the last second.

+1 on the 'cosmetically challenged' CZ 75.
They are tough guns; parkerized and then polycoated over that. Those scuffed up ones that you see, they've got scrapes on the polycoat, but the park is still (usually) quite intact. And they are steel-framed, not aluminum; so sometime down the road you can always do a refinish however you like. Strip it and parkerize, blue, paint or cerakote, get it plated... anything is possible.
