• Possible Downtime Alert

I am working to migrate THR from the current cluster to a new one. I would like to get this done before the weekend, but it's unclear what the timeframe will be, as testing is still ongoing. As I am writing this the new (rebuilt) host is doing a burn-in to ensure that everything will keep running under load.

When the migration happens users will see a Cloudflare message indicatating it cannot connect to the server. This is expected, and depending on how the migration goes this may last from 30 minutes to 3 hours - I won't know more until testing the various migration options is complete and I have finalized the plan.

More information is available in this thread.

As always, thanks so much for your patience.

I have cut down a lot on buying guns recently, but I just couldn't pass this one up. A K-22 Masterpiece that left the factory in 1954. $695 out the door. I just couldn't pass it up.

The funny thing is, I already had one just like it. This one left the factory in 1950. They are identical except this one has a wide target hammer. The one I just picked up has the 'speed' hammer.

Oh well, I always say a man just can't have too many K-22s.

I love mine. And would buy another in a heartbeat, but you just don't see them for sale around here...EVER....
I happened to stumble on mine in one of the many local shops I haunt. It's the only one I've seen for sale locally.

Nice K22,
I was just in the same boat, had a beautiful 99% 17-2 in box with all accessories, then a slightly worn pre-17 with target hammer and unrelieved diamond grips came along for $600.
So now the 17-2 is going up for auction and i'm waiting for the pre-17 to clear my FFL.
Older is always better with S&W, imo.

Not a K-22, but an early Model 17. It shipped in 1963. I paid $950 for it a few years ago.

That’s a beauty. It reminds me of the one my Dad had when I was in High School.

I wish I would have photographed the $1600 K22 I saw at the gun show. Compared to the one you have pictured yours comparatively looks brand new while the other looked filthy and not well cared for at all. It didn’t look worn from use. It looked neglected. Scummy, even.

It can a Model 17 and still be a K22.
We could argue about this all day. It is clearly a Model 17, so labeled on the frame. If you want to call it a K-22 Masterpiece, go ahead. As I said before, S&W went to a model numbering system in 1957. This one shipped in 1963 and is clearly labeled MOD-17 on the frame under the yoke.

A couple months ago, I was checking out a local classified sight and run across this 17-6. It was listed as just a Smith and Wesson model 17, for $750. At first glance, I thought it was just another model 17. I happened to look a little closer I noticed it had a full lug. When I realized what it was, I called the guy , set it up to go look at it when we both got off work. It looked like it had not been shot. A very light turn ring, clean and very tight. On thing, the finger grooved combat grips had been taken off and replaced with a set of Smith and Wesson target grips. I counted him out his asking price of $750. I ordered a set of finger grooved combat grips from John Culina, to go on it. Price of the grips included, I still don’t have a$1000 in it. I am usually late on deals like this. I would love to find a 4” 17-6, but doubt it will be the price I paid for this one.

Depends on how you define it specifically.

It's a K-frame...
It's a .22...

In my mind a model 617 made this year is a K-22 also.
Chunky underlug and all.
But that's just me and I'm no expert or final authority on such.

Just tossing this out there in case it's useful.
