Have been lurking for awhile, and decided to 'decloak.' I'm very impressed with the caliber (so to speak) of civilized discourse here!

I just recently got into guns due to a fairly dicey situation a friend of mine is going through. (Nutshell=BG, Rape, Stalking, Death Threats, Cops Can't Do Squat, Yada Yada.) Purchased a .40 S&W Sigma and have been spending some time and $$ trying to hit approximately what I aim at. So y'all can consider me a FNG, and be prepared for a bunch of stupid questions.

Yes indeed, I do know the Four Rules, and have impressed them upon my friend as well (we got her a Ruger P89 9mm--just don't tell her somewhat-anti roommate). I've got some experience handling a lethal weapon; one that weighs 80,000 pounds and has 18 wheels. Screwing up with a big truck can be just as lethal to oneself or innocent bystanders as screwing up with a gun. When people talk safety, I tend to listen!
