My wife likes shooting my .22 lever rifle and she can practice quietly shooting Aguila Colibris into my pellet trap.

I was wondering if any of the common .22 autos can cycle this weak, primer-only ammo. Anyone with a Ruger mark III, Browning Buckmark, Walther P22, Baretta Neos, etc that likes Colibris? They are shaped a little differently than most .22 LR ammo.

Boy, I don't think so. Most semi-autos are .22 LR only anymore. Years ago there were a few that would cycle with .22 short, long and long rifle, but none anymore. If made where it would cycle with .22 shorts, then the LR would force the slide back too hard. I do know my Mark III will only use LR. I tried an old box of longs in it and it had problems cycling/stovepipes.

I can tell you from experience, the Ruger 22/45 won't cycle them. Those things just don't have enough oomph. They have a loopy, rainbow-like trajectory too.

Im going to guess no, Colibris are VERY low power
Im assuming you are talking about the regular ones and not the supers, but regardless, they have nowhere near the power of a .22 short or even a .22CB
Ill bet you couldn't get one to eject from a .22lr semi gun if you took the recoil spring completely out.

My Remington 597 *feeds* Super Colibris just fine. They do not cycle the action automatically however.

Even CB rounds won't cycle most semi-auto actions, no biggie. Just work it as a straight pull action.

Thanks for the quick answers, folks. Looks like I'll stick to .22 revolvers, which is a shame because a good one is twice the price of a good .22 semi-auto.

In a semi-auto? I've never been able to cycle them in a semi-auto. Revolvers and older .22 Bolt guns, yes.

I don't think they are powerful enough to cycle some of your latest, greatest, handguns.
