Just trying to figure out what kind of laws you have to abide by when apprehending a fugitive. Is it true you can go into their house or their family's without a warrant?
Any bail enforcement agents in here?

Brian, I used to be a Bail Agent. Yes you can go get the bad guys in their home without a warrant. You have more rights then Police Officers do. It is a very interesting job. Lots of time spent tracking the people down, lots of time spent on stake outs. Most came without a major problem, but the others made you earn your money.
We always tried to be professional. We let them know that it was only business and if they went along with the program they would be treated with respect. If they didn't, we could (an did) make them real uncomfortable. As great as it would be to only go after the big bail amounts, you had to go after the little ones too. The little ones most times took more time and effort than the big ones. You had to try and get them all or the bail bondsman would find someone who would go after all of them and then your out of a job.
It's kinda like the last of the wild west. Very dangerous at times but rewarding. After all, you are hunting the most dangerous animal of all, Man.
It is not a glamorous as it seems. You spend too many days and nights away from home. You can make good money, but it comes at a price.

As a bail agent could you only work in your own state or could you travel to different states? Also, did you only work for one bailbondsman or can you work for multiple bondsman?

You can work for several bail bondsman if you wish as long as you produce results for all of them. Yes you can work in any state. The problem with out of state work is the fact that your CCW may not be valid in another state and you may not even be able to open carry. I have picked up skips un armed more than once, but always felt very naked. You can sometimes get the local law enforcement agency to assist you, but many agencys do not like bounty hunters. Not a lot of rules and regs covering bail enforcement, but you still have to follow local laws. It is always a good idea to alert the local law enforcement agency when you pick up a skip in their jurisdiction.

If you have a good relationship with the local LEO's, it can be mutually benificial. I did this work for 4 years. But I don't recomend it.

I with George. It was fun at times, but I know that many of my gray hairs are from that time in my life. The really good ones were the guys who called you and said "don't bother finding me, I'm going to find you and I have an Uzi. You know what, he did have an Uzi when we took him down. Ah, another one bites the dust.
