While looking at the prices of 8mm ammunition online, I found Sportsmans Guide offering 196gr FMJ for around $1.50/15... or $65/1000. According to the advertisement, they are loaded to 2,600 FPS with muzzle energy of 2,950 FPE.

I'm running low on my '50-'51 manufactured FN 154gr (?) cupro-nickel berdan FMJ, which is sure-fire and consistent. The problem is the bullet weight. My M48 places those FN FMJs about 8" high at 100 yards, whereas my M48 only prints around 2" high at 100 with S&B 196gr FMJ.
When I restock my 8mm supply, I would like to try heavy surplus ammunition this time.

So, does anyone have any information concerning the reliability and consistency of the 196gr FMJ surplus from Ecuador?

Check with www. dansammo.com. He usually has it and his customers seem to like it. I use nothing but the Greek, but that's because the EQ wasn't around whenI was buying...
