I was wondering if their are any good gun clubs/shooting competition clubs in Tennessee specifically around Lawrenceburg or Columbia. if not, does anyone on the forum live in Tennessee?

tons of us live in TN, and there are many clubs in TN. I'm not familiar with the Lawrenceburg area.

however, the nearest stuff i know of to you is

warren county rifle club has matches in Tullahoma
there's an outfit or two in camden teaching classes
check in with hero gear in winchester
there's a pretty popular range near murfreesboro, although I haven't been there personally

Im a member at Owl Hollow Gun Club. www.owlhollowgunclub.org Its a little north of Columbia in the Spring Hill/Bethesda area.
The range facilities are somewhat primative but we have 2 pistol pits and a 25, 50 and 100 yard rifle range, and at $50 per year for membership dues the price is right.

How about Memphis Sport Shooting Association? We have 200+ acres which includes Five Stand, Trap, Skeet, 15 to 100 yard covered ranges, Action Pistol, Cowboy Action, Sporting Clays, Wobble Trap......I might be forgetting something but we have pretty much everything. We're right outside Memphis but far enough away to be removed from the big city. Hope this helps

shevrock,

There is a very good range in Lewisburg, a bit East of 65. Can't remember the name of the club. Several of us from the Shoals area used to go up there to shoot IDPA until they closed their matches to non club members. Someone in your area should know of the club.
If you are looking for matches to shoot, the North Alabama Shooting Association hosts a rimfire match every Saturday of the month, and IDPA on the third Sunday. We are in Sheffield, not to far South of you.
www.nasaclub.com to see the details.

Well, I'm in hole in the wall [ otherwise know as Hohenwald] and Columbia and lawrenceburg are the closest places to me. most of the time i'm broke, and simply have a 22 and a 12 gauge, plus i'm working on my third rifle. do any of the places have specific requirements.

I'm in Nashville ...litterally all my life. Mostly I shoot in Lebanon...my parents farm. Once in a while several of us go to Cheatham Wildlife Management range. There are berms at 25, 50, and 100 yds. Part of the shooting line is covered. Fee is $6.00/two hrs...I think.

Sometimes I go to Davidson Co. Sportsman's Club. I've been a membet there for three yrs. They have 200 yds. The membership is limited to 250 and there is a waiting list.

THR is full of folks from TN.

taliv is on the Plateau, I'm in The Valley, Olegs in Nashville and on and on.

hso,

I bet we ain't far apart either...and I do remember taliv telling me where he was...It was a while back though...I had forgotten.

I don't frequent any ranges or clubs myself, I'm one of the lucky ones. I live out in the country and have a small farm, thats surrounded by bigger farms (river bottom land)...all in all I have about 800 acres that I have permission to hunt and shoot all I want on.

Think cornfields full of deer...hehehe.

well i'm in the middle of 19 acres, that's all ravines. so mostly i shoot in my backyard, but was looking for some competition. thanks for all the links though guys. I'll definitely check them out. thank you for your time.

I don't know what kind of competition you are looking for.

You are close to a fine 1000 yard range that the TSSA uses for NRA highpower competition, Tullahoma ADEC.

ORSA has competitions in action shooting, garand matches, service rifle matches, CMP shoots, etc.

John Sevier has service rifle matches.

Jackson, in West TN, may be a little far from Columbia but there is a brand new indoor handgun, rifle and archery range there. Visit jacksonisr.com for more info.

taliv,

I didn't know you were in TN....did I?

i think so, but it's been a while. I live in cookeville. Mostly shoot at ORSA in oak ridge and on local farms and a local pistol range.

I'll be at ORSA saturday and sunday for the long and medium range 3x1000 and 3x600. and the following week on sat for camp perry practice. wander by if you're in the neighborhood

I am not from Tn yet but I will be as soon as I can afford to build my house there. I have property just outside of Chattanooga on Signal Mountain. I can't wait to get out of MD. :cuss:

heh

herr.baer, when you bring all those guns down here, we'll have to issue some news reports about the flow of guns between MD an TN reversing.
