No I'm not trolling...I'm curious.

I have been following a debate on another forum and would like to hear from you guys.

Please post any major failures you have with your XD. Please post the model also if you don't mind.

EDIT: When I say major failure...I mean something broke and rendered the gun inoperable.

I'm curious as well because I'm in the market for a XD45 or if I lag long enough, maybe they'll come out with a XDm45 :p

I have the .45 Tactical with a 5" barrel with a round count of around 800 and I've never had any problems with it. In fact, the XD is my bedside and car gun. My only complaint is the really long trigger pull.

I have an Xdm 9, a 9 sub compact and a 45 service model and frankly......

THEY ARE THE CAT'S MEOW !!!!

I know the post you are referring to and I think it is a crock of Sh**

Love my Springfield Armory's, PERIOD

I have an XD-45 Service.

Weak magazine springs but no major failures.

Post a link to the debate. I'd like to read it.

Let me preface this post by saying that I don't own an XD, although I have several buddies that do. The only issue I've read about with the XD is that the striker roll pin can break.

From what I've read, this most often occurs from frequent dry firing without snap caps. While I wouldn't call it a major failure (it's relatively easy to replace them), it will certainly render the pistol inoperable.

As I mentioned, I don't own an XD, so this isn't from first-hand experience. However, if you do searches, you'll find threads on various forums about it. I'm not saying the XD is a bad or unreliable pistol. There is plenty of evidence to the contrary.

I have never had a problem shooting the XD pistols, but my wife, who has rather tiny hands, sometimes had a problem deactivating the grip safety.
She would squeeze the trigger and ....nothing...., re-adjust her grip and squeeze again and BANG.
After one range session she said she preferred the Glock over the XD because of the grip safety.

I own two XD 9mm Sub-Compacts and my wife owns one. I also have an XD 357 Sig Service and an XD .45 acp Service. None of them have ever had a failure of any kind, period. The .45 won't won't feed SWC bullets, but it's a service pistol and wasn't designed to. They all shoot hollowpoint bullets without a hitch.

I've probably got over 7,000 rounds through my 357 Sig XD, since it was the first one I bought. It has been flawless, and very accurate.

The XD's are my carry guns, and if they weren't reliable, I wouldn't carry them.

Hope this helps.

Fred

XD45T with about 1k rounds fired, no hiccups (no fte, no ftfeed/fire) though I've heard they'll jam when feeding semiwadcutters. If they come out with an XD45-M I'll be in a quandry...

XD45T with never a glitch of any kind. I load semiwadcutters for bullseye practice with 1911's and the XD eats them up without even a spring change.

I put a trigger kit into mine not long after I bought the gun and it's going on two years now - something around a thousand. It's just so reliable that it bores me to shoot it at a range.

They're good pistols.

Have four XDs myself. Not a problem. The one I use most often, if not shooting a 1911, is the 5" tactical 9mm with SA's Custom Carry Package done to it. Have a little over 11,000 rounds through that one. As long as I change the recoil spring regularly then I haven't experienced any problems. If the first one I bought didn't stand up to my abuse, I wouldn't have bought the other three. Good guns.

I broke the "indicator pin" (it protrudes out the rear of the slide when the firing pin is cocked).

The gun still worked fine, you just couldn't tell if it was cocked or not. (much like the M&P)

Springfield sent me a new one free, easily replaced. Been working great ever since.

Back when they were transitioning between the HS2000 & XD, I went and rented the XD over the course of 2 months -- 1/wk every wknd. They were new range guns but very busy -- 9mm, 40S&W & 357sig. I saw catastrophic failures in the 9mm (2x) once for the org gun & the factory replacement plust the 40 failed as well. -- all w/in 4 wks
