Smith & Wesson has announced they are delaying any revolver introductions until they have had a chance to first study the new Taurus catalog.

    Thats cold right there! :D

Especially when you consider that S&W invented everything in the Taurus revolver line-up, except the .410 shotgun revolver.

And that includes most of the revolver calibers they are chambered in.

A Glock revolver? Interesting concept, but I probably couldn't get used to the grip angle....

New revolvers are JUNK. Wouldn't own any revolvers made after 1988.

I was hoping someone would chime in with a productive comment like this. :scrutiny:

I'm hoping S&W expands the lineup of pro-series wheelguns.

My wife just caught a glimpse of the 640 pro and I think she may be smitten. I kind like them myself.

My hope is that Ruger comes out with an SP101 3" Talo, similar to the GP100 Talo (matte finish with XS sight).
I think that would be just about the perfect carry revolver.

But enough about my wishlist. I looked at what Taurus is bringing out and none of it thrilled me. I can't wait to see if S&W and Ruger intro anything really cool at the SHOT show.

Oh yes. That would be sweet.

I have a recent production 686-6 Plus 2.5", and it's dripping in MIM and internal locks. I had extreme reservations when I bought it, but quite honestly, I really love it. If I had to chose my least favorite feature, it would obviously be the hideous internal lock, but the MIM parts don't bother me a bit. The trigger is really nice on this gun. I guess just as bad as the lock is the laser etched S&W logo...but with my arms straight out in front of me it's all but impossible to see the flaws with this gun.

I wouldnt call new revolvers junk. But my S&W 19-2 is a lot nicer than my S&W 617. The same as my old model BH is nicer than my SP101. But they all shoot well and function flawlessly

The gun on my hip right now is a recent make Taurus 85. Its fit and finish is perfectly good enough, and mechanically it is flawless. The fact that I picked it up used for $225 OTD is a nice bonus.
I will be replacing it in the carry rotation with a Ruger LCR soon, but it's still going to do house duty.

IMO the two best Taurus models are the PT-92 and Model 85

The Ruger LCR 22M should be out pretty soon.
I saw a post where one hit GB with a 12/26/12 manufacture date.
The 22 Magnum LCR should sell I would think.

You know what I'd like to see? I would absolutely love it if Smith or Ruger would design a modern day full size break top revolver. Keep some of the mordern day improved ergonomics, but also retain some of the older styling and nostalgia in those old Iver Johnsons and S&W's.

Then, using modern day metalurgy and science, actually chamber them for common calibers like 38 special, 45 colt, 44 special. I know the reason those older break tops were chambered for less powerful cartridges was due to the inherant weakness of the break top frame, and metalurgy was not what it is today. I should think that with Rugers reputation for overbuilding stuff they could build one in 357 magnum as well. But I'd still go for one in a less powerful cartridge.

I wonder if the fear that someone will put Buffalo Bore or other hot loaded ammo through them and end up blowing them up is why no one has done it. I would think they would sell alright. Hell even paying a high price for a Smith and making it a Performance Center would be alright with me.
