I am getting tired of just printing paper on Range. I want to do some plinking. However, the range I visit doesn't allow this. Do we have some plinking range in Connecticut? I searched online but got no results.

Thanks,

The state range in Danbury, Wooster Mt., sells clay birds to shoot. I've also seen people put bowling pins downrange there.

I think there is a range like that in Berlin, but I'm not positive.
I like shooting at Blue Trails in Wallingford, but I think you have to use a paper target there.

I'm editing to add that in the more eastern part of CT where it is more rural, I'd bet there are more ranges like that.
I'd look up our THR member Distra and ask him.

Wooster Mtn in Danbury is your best bet. Blue Trail in Wallingford is expensive and only paper targets, and i've seen a lot of marginal weapons-handling there by others....sweeping the whole line, &c.

On the other end of the spectrum, I've been looking for a public long range (200+) in CT....haven't found one.

I think Blue Trails is going to be re-opening up their 200 yard range at some point.

I haven't noticed the same problems with gun-handling there that you have noticed. Of course, I tend to go at off times when there is hardly anyone there.

Last time I went, it was myself and 3 other guys on the whole line. Then again, it was 24 degrees, very windy, and 10:00 on a tuesday morning.

the blue trail 200 yd range is open for BB or pellet rifle only. what fun!
center fire rifles for use on the 50 yd / 100 yd range and only off the bench. No off-hand shooting (real men do it standing upright). It ain't the place it used to be. Best info is that the a**hole neighbor causing all the problems is a developer with his reptilian eyes on the property. CT shooters haven't got much
for public ranges besides Wooster Mnt. 50 yds and High Rock (Paugusset State Forest) 100yds.

I am glad I am from and in Texas, our "plinking" ranges are known as private propery, nice to go out and shoot hogs, coyotes anytime at some very long distances sometimes. nice to drive for miles and not see another human being unless it is an illegal alien on his way to take a job Americans "wont do" I dont mean to be rude, but I love the wide open country and not worrying about where a stray shot may go (lest I hit a cow), not to worry about neighbors complaining about gunfire. I can hunt a ranch 15 miles from the nearest paved road. I guess I am just lucky.

Not much in CT.

Blue Trails is crazy expensive and has to many rules...can't fire fast, can only bench fire, can't fire at 25 yards which makes no sense.

Their is a good range in Naugatuck but its a club, and its backstop is a rock wall. No stupid rules so you can actualy have fun, but a rock wall as backstop 100 yards away with the guy next to you pumping .50bmg into it is not fun...

I'm going to try Wooster Mtn.

In CT you pretty much have to know someone with property.

Actually I went to the Blue Trail. $27 seems expensive, but you can shoot all day in the weekdays, and you could buy a $75 card for $50, which is not bad. However, shooting only from Bench and Paper Targets only really got my nerver.

It seems I have to try Wooster Mtn. Thanks guys!
