I think there are two reasons: a massive change to more modern and effective IT programs in the last two years , with taking the beta testing results and repairs .
AND the massive #s of agents employed , which is scary because of other areas which will be agendized in future.
But Kudos to the BATFE for the crumbs of the good stuff, not that hearing protectors or short barrels should be controlled IMHO , and those of some agents current and retired

    You have to be kidding.
The IT ATF uses is absolutely the most buggy, slow, horribly designed system I've ever seen. It's so bad they have regularly scheduled shutdown every Saturday as well as every other Sunday.
Why do you think I thought 90 days was a pipe dream?;)

    Zero beta testing, weekly repairs.

    Huh?
ATF agents have nothing to do with eForms, never have.
As far as the "massive #'s of agents"..........around 2,700. Thats pretty small compared to the FBI or HSI.
I have no idea what you are trying to say here.o_O

    # 1 what do you call the 20-2021 attempts at e files that we aborted Imm . I think those are by definition Beta tests.
#2 OK Investigators I forgot who I was trying to converse with, True I converse with retired Agents , not the process people and I have no , nor care what their "proper" title is.
#3 I was trying to throw out a crumb of praise where I thought it was due to the Dreadful BATFE
#4 So they shut the ATF sites down like State DMVs do on non "business days " to update their IT

#5 not wanting to argue in the least about any BATFE matter , but I plan on e Filing with 90 day type turn arounds and that is a happy thing

    Huh?:scrutiny:
Not sure what you're talking about. What 20-21 attempts were aborted? ATF has had fully operational efiling for all forms EXCEPT form 4's for several years. They had to come up with a new system because they believed the pre December 2021 system was so unstable that adding eForm 4's would crash it. eForms did not allow Form 4's until December 23rd.

If you know of a beta testing program please share details because ATF sure as heck hasn't mentioned it.

Industry Operations Investigators don't have anything to do with NFA forms either. Knowing who it is you're talking about is important.

    Gotcha.

Amazingly the FBI doesn't have to shut down 1-2 days per week and they manage infinitely more records than ATF does.
For a system thats supposed to be available 24/7/365, requiring 1-2 days a week to maintain seems a bit much. Not sure what a state DMV has to do with anything.

    It has sparked sales.
It's also sparked more than a few angry citizens who've been waiting 11-14 months for their paper Form 4 to be approved. ATF should have done the right thing and approved those before they ever did the first eForm.

You self answered my "Beta Testing " reference and your question of it .:Not sure what you're talking about. What 20-21 attempts were aborted? ATF has had fully operational efiling for all forms EXCEPT form 4's for several years. They had to come up with a new system because they believed the pre (HERE: )December 2021 system was so unstable that adding eForm 4's would crash it. eForms did not allow Form 4's until December 23rd.

AND the DMV reference was that some States do take there on line services down during non business days to fix problems . I like that better than shuting down during a work week, traditionally speaking .

I'm jealous. I placed my orders in July last year with the checks cashed August and September. I'm still waiting for the approval.

My first suppressor, last year, took 9 months to get. I've got two suppressors in jail using e-forms. So far I've been waiting about 2 months.

Hah! Fun learning curve so far. Called ATF's NFA division today. Seems my stamp was approved in March and sent to the manufacturer of the stripped lower I intend to use to build an SBR. I sent in a Form 1, but ATF changed it in their records to a Form 4 submittal and directed the stamp to somebody other than me. Go figure. Ibuprofen may help, but that's about all I can think of that may ease the pain.

Also seems the stamp never arrived at the other location per their compliance coordinator.
ATF acknowledged the error, and will be processing a certified copy for me ASAP. Wow!
