I am currently shooting on a 1,000 yard range with my Savage 30.06 (30 yr old) 110 hunting rifle with a Nikon Buckmaster with BDC reticle. It is good out to 600 yards with the Bullet drop compensator. I am looking at buying a rifle more suited for this purpose as I have really enjoyed myself at the range and I am going to burn up the barrel on my trusted 30.06 hunting pal. I am considering a .308 Savage with a heavy barrel and was wondering what scope recommendations in the $300 to $600 range you guys might have for a range gun that could possible be used for hunting some. I will not carry this rifle far into the woods. That is what my lightweight 30.06 is for. I want something mildot and with adjustable turrets as a friend is going to teach me how to use that setup.

Vortex Viper PST in either 4-16x50mm or 6-24x50mm. IMO, the vortex viper line is the best bang for your buck hands down with one of the best warranties in the game. Check them out.

Leupold is made in the USA and the best of them all. They have all the gee whiz models, too, if that's what you want.
