Anyone have any thoughts or opinions on the Olympic arms ar-15 pistol, or the Rock River ar-15 pistol? I

Yes! I have thoughts about AR pistols.

None of them are good though, so you don't want to hear them.

They are a pretty good answer to a question nobody had. IMHO, they are merely toys. They are hard to shoot accurately, they have muzzle blast from H*** and they lose over 750 fps from a 20". If you want to make one easier to shoot, put a stock on it. If you want to allow the .223 to live up to it's abilities, put a longer barrel on it. Voila, you now have an AR-15 carbine.;)

I think the only practical use for such arms is in close protection, as they are easy to sling under a suit or sport coat and a .223 will sail through soft body armor in most cases.

Besides that, just a novelty.

They are completely pointless in my opinion; I already have the smallest AR15 that I consider to be useful; its a 10.5" barrel with standard carbine length gas system (rather than some funky one off job) and... a stock! So you can actually hit something! :)

I've shot the Kel Tec 223 pistol...FUN but I still think you should-Get an AK Pistol!

my thought was if you buy and register the 7inch pistol, and properly register it within class 3 regulations, and local laws, you can then put a stock on it and any size upper you want from 7" to 20" the possiblities are endless. And everyone is right I think its a toy, but it would be nice if you could switch out the upper and have a machine

Spend the extra $200 and make it an SBR. Well worth the wait and the cash. SBRs shoot about a thousand times better than AR pistols.

I have one, it does serve a purpose and it does shoot accurately. ~1" at 100 yards, 125gr speer TNT @2000 FPS, 1400ft-lbs out of a 10.5" barrel. .300/221. I plan on deer hunting with it this fall.

I have shot a RRA's 9mm, it did not have a bipod so it was EXTREAMILY barrel heavy witch made it hard to hit anything.

I like the concept. I wish they would make one in a smaller caliber (such as 9mm or .45 ACP), and perhaps make the dimensions smaller. It would be cool if you could put the magazine in the handle as well. Maybe make it recoil operated also. Get rid of the hand guard too, and the peep sights. I don't think you need the rail along the top, and the barrel should be 5" inches instead of 7". I sketched up a quick drawing with the changes I stated:

On TV last night they had a documentary on gangs in El Salvador. One gang of teenage boys had a full-auto M16 pistol. In front of the camera they demonstrated the 3-position selector. They had 20 round magazines. I suppose there is no such thing as fire control. Pull trigger once, try to hang on until mag is empty.
