I saw this little MP5 look-alike at a gun show recently and have been thinking about rolling up on one someday. Does anyone have one or shot one in the past?

I shot one two weekends ago. It looked and felt really cool, but wasn't very reliable. It could have been the ammo (Remington golden bullets, the worst IMO) but the owner said he had tried a lot of different types of ammo and it didn't make a difference.

I can't really comment on the accuracy, because I was just plinking and not shooting for groups, but it seemed about equal to a 10/22.

i just sold one, i had no problem with it as far as reliability unless you have your hand on the mag while shooting...they are a cool gun but i had other things i wanted that were more important

I agree on Remington being the worst ammo. IMO, they should just stick to guns. Seems their ammo line has been shyte across the board. From what I've seen anyways.

I like the look alot, I've always been a major fan of the MP5. And now to have one available in a calibre that I can shoot all day and not feel my wallet shrink too much...if I could go out and pick one up right now I would!

I have one and it has been a great little gun. I have had no issues with mine at all. Now I want to get the MP5K version they have out. I'm also waiting for the AK they have coming.

A guy at my shooting club has one and it’s a great ‘fun gun’. (we’re still allowed semi-auto .22) I managed to get one-inch groups at 25 yards using a red-dot sight and was surprised at the accuracy.

I’ve read about people moaning about occasional feed problems but the guy at my club said he hasn’t experienced any such problems.

Just for interest, they retail at approx £450 -£500 over here but there is quite often a waiting list. How much do they cost in the States?

I have about a 1200 rounds through mine and the only times and it's been extremely reliable and extremely fun.

My buddy has almost 4k rounds through his rifle already and about 1500 through his PK. He also went about 2k rounds between cleanings once and the gun continued to work flawlessly despite being absolutely caked in powder.

Another friend of mine just has the PK and has probably around 1k rounds through it and he thinks it's just the greatest thing in the world right now.

I've had my GSG-5 since October '08 and I still think it's one of the most fun gun purchases I've ever made. Up until about a month ago I only had one 22rd mag for it but now I have six and plan to put a lot more rounds through it now:D

I think its a fun little plinker. Runs like a top with CCI minimags and federal bulk. Not so much with the GBs, although it eats the GBs better than my rimfire AR does.

My only thought is I want one soon. Looks like nothing but fun. Too bad the price tag isn't more inline with other semi-auto 22's.

I disagree, I think it is a cool gun for a day, but $500+ is a little steep for a plastic .22 that looks cool. But hey, that my opionion. their are better options out thier for me.

What better options? I've got a modified 10-22 for shooting bugholes, a Browning takedown for looking pretty, and the GSG for just burning up ammo and having fun. You could buy a .22 upper for an AR but then you just have another AR.

And I dissagree:D I personally think the price is well justified for the quality and how much damn fun they are. Sure you can find cheaper .22 rifles but I have yet to find a cheaper one that is as much fun and I've owned a lot;)

Also the plastic aspect doesn't bother me, all the right parts are metal.

After having inpsected the GSG-5 on several occasions, despite reminding me somewhat of an Airsoft, I have been tempted to acquire one. If they'd lose the fake can barrel shroud and go with a plain HK94 style barrel I'd already have one. Fake suppressors make me want to :barf:

i have one & im a lefty, there is no issues with shooting it from the wrong side. its a cool little gun, a bit fragile feeling, but i have no regrets. wal-mart federal bulk pack ammo works well,as does mini mags, never had a jam or hangup.i know theres some other clones coming out(sig, umarex ar,gsg ak) but this one seems to be the coolest.compared to bobcat weapons & all those piecemeal parts 9mm mp5 clones,& their 1000+ prices,at least this is completely made in 1 factory,is half the price, & shoots cheap ammo.

All I know is they only brought 10,000 GSG-5 in country last year an they are all sold, no one has any in stock that I can find, my local dealer says more are on the ship coming over, he'll have 30 of them, but its been weeks an weeks, hope they get here before a Obama ban.
I have heard not to hold the clip, not to shoot remington, anything copper coated shoots good, even the Wal-Mart Federal shoots great an are cheap.....also all new aftermarket clips are being made to help stop the jamming as well,...

i really wanted one too but then again it's kinda pricy. they're rare and hard to find. correct me if i'm wrong but last i've read i don't even think they import those anymore. if you really want it then go for it before someone else (like myself and others) buys it. i thought about it and figured i'd rather get another upper for my ar15 along with a .22 kit.
