Anybody Ever Convert an 1858 New Army to Smooth Bore?

Maybe you need a third barrel for it too so as to still get a snubby...

I already have a couple so the project is low on my list; but a smooth bore .36 might mean those chipmunks that ate my tomatoes this summer could have the #8 lead special for desert.

It’s been said before but no, the NFA rules do not apply to muzzleloaders since they are not firearms.

A little off topic, but knowing how BP laws aren’t as well known by some law enforcement I’ve figured I’d lean on the side of caution when making smoothbores and cut them no less than the legal 18” just because you could still sit in jail for a period and have your gun(s) confiscated, which might well be quite nasty when you got it back.

I like snakes too but I understand there are some times when you have to kill them. In California you can call the Dept. of Fish & Game and they can direct you to a "rattlesnake rescue" which will take snakes away but also give you tips on how to make your property less attractive to snakes. Maybe they have something like that in your area if it's a big problem.

Red touch yellow kill a fellow, red touch black friend of Jack.
